March 5 Junior Day Running List

Thanks! Some thoughts relative to the list the board has been working on:

Missing
Rico Walker - this one was pretty speculative anyway
DL/OL Trevor Duncan - surprised he's not on the list
LB Cameron Seldon (he had said March, so could just be later in the month)
OL Sullivan Absher - could've sworn multiple sources had him coming here
OL Nathan Ofobi
ATH Marquez Taylor - pretty sure VQ themselves had an article saying he was coming
S Isaac Smith - 247 article had him coming as of last week
WR Daveun Dozier - had tweeted himself that he'll be here
DL Kendrick Gilbert - 247 article had him coming as of this week

New
TE Ben Marshall
TE Spencer Shannon - coming from CA. Interesting that with him and Marshall in this weekend and Reid Mikeska coming the 26th, they appear to be interested in maybe adding a 2nd TE to the class
LB K'Vion Thunderbird - just got an offer
DL Joshua Mickens
DL Tyree Weathersby
DL Zachariah Keith
DL Daevin Hobbs - return visit
DL Darron Reed - return visit, elite recruit
DL Tymere Burton
OL Henry Hardin
Jordan Bell - couldn't find him anywhere, wonder if it's Micah Bell?
Nice group of 24's and 25's,
too
Obviously a huge list with tons of bluechippers. Can't wait!

FWIW, new 247 article has Smith and Gilbert on the list

Cool seeing Ben Marshall on here. TE at Blackman. Anything else you know about him as far as with the Vols. I know he's Athletic and probably 6/2 or taller and probably around 190. Any updates?

I’ll be interested to see how the running back board shakes out over the visit weekend. We are bringing in a lot of guys and they are all kinda different. It’ll be interesting to see how many we end up taking and who is at the top of the board. Do they go two guys and go just two best they can get or if they get bishop do they go for more power with the second or do they just do one and is bishop good enough to be the only back in a class.

Number of RBs taken probably depends on 1) if they can find a portal RB with more than 1 year of eligibility starting in 2022, 2) the status of and outlook for Whitehead & Wright, and 3) how good Williams is.

IMO, especially when it comes to RBs, you take best available talent. No reason any type of back can’t succeed in this offense as long as he’s talented.

Jordan Anderson, Millikan, Wide Receiver (247sports.com)

Visiting this weekend per Greg Biggins of 247. Notably:

" Anderson is one of the region’s top prospects in the ’24 class. He played the last two seasons at Downey (Calif.) Warren before transferring in to Millikan in the off-season. He’s very close with elite ’23 quarterback Nicholaus Iamaleava, who’s also visiting Knoxville this weekend. Anderson plays on the same 7v7 team, ‘Team Toa,’ with Iamaleava and the two have taken multiple visits together."
