Do you guys have any thoughts on the Marcus Vick situation? I think enough is enough, and I think Tech should kick him off the team(like they will, because Micheal Vick will just give the University money like he did last time Marcus got in trouble).

Sounds to me like the whole Va Tech team had issues in the first half . . . 5 personal fouls.

I just read an article from the Big 12 referee who did the game and he said that Va Tech was the worst behaved team he had ever seen.

The thing that drives me crazy is that Frank Beamer defended him, saying that he didn't see Marcus step on that boy's leg.Of course, Marcus says that it was just an accident, and he also said, quote "football is football". Whatever.I HATE TECH!!! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Surprised he didn't go to Miami. This kind of behaviour doesn't even make press there. They dismiss a schuffle on the way back to the locker room. No big deal for the Canes.

Vick was accused of going 38 miles per hour in a 25 mph zone.

I know this guy has a history, but come on . . . why is this even making the paper?

I think it's the driving on the suspended license thing. In Virginia, that's a felony now.

Marcus Vick Arrested, Future as Hokie Unsure

By Mark Schlabach
Washington Post Staff Writer
Friday, January 6, 2006; 2:33 PM

Quarterback Marcus Vick, whose future at Virginia Tech seems in jeopardy for his on-field actions during the Jan. 2 Gator Bowl, also is facing new off-field problems.

Vick, the younger brother of former Tech All-American and current Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick, was arrested Dec. 17 in Hampton, Va., and charged with misdemeanor driving on a suspended or revoked driver's license, according to the Virginia Judicial Systems Web site.

The charge was not reported on the state's Web site until yesterday.

Vick, who led the Hokies to a 11-2 record in his first season as a starter, already is under intense criticism for stomping on the leg of Louisville All-American defensive end Elvis Dumervil during Virginia Tech's 35-24 victory on Monday.

Hokies Coach Frank Beamer was scheduled to meet today with Vick and his mother in Suffolk, Va., to discuss his future with the Hokies. According to Virginia Tech sources, Vick would be suspended for at least the Hokies' 2006 opener if he returns to the team.

Vick, 21, missed all of the 2004 season while serving a school-imposed suspension following two separate incidents in which he was charged with crimes while enrolled at Virginia Tech.

In September 2004, Vick pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor for giving alcohol to underage girls. In July 2005, Vick was arrested for speeding, and police found marijuana in his car. He pleaded guilty to reckless driving and no contest to possession of marijuana.

Cpl. James West, public information officer for the Hampton Police Department, said Vick was cited Dec. 17 for two violations -- speeding and driving on a suspended driver's license. West said Vick wasn't taken into custody and was issued two summons to appear in Hampton General District Court on Jan. 17.

When the school announced Vick's semester-long suspension last year, Virginia Tech President Charles M. Steger said if Vick faced additional off-field troubles, "his Virginia Tech career is effectively ended."

Virginia Tech has called an 11 a.m. news conference Saturday to address the incident at the Gator Bowl involving Vick. The school said University President Charles Steger, Director of Athletics Jim Weaver and Beamer will take part in the news conference.

University President Charles Steger Statement on Marcus Vick

January 6, 2006

Virginia Tech quarterback Marcus Vick has been permanently dismissed from the Hokie football program due to a cumulative effect of legal infractions and unsportsmanlike play.

Virginia Tech had suspended Vick in 2003. The university provided one last opportunity for Vick to become a citizen of the university and re-admitted him in January 2004, with the proviso that any future problems would result in automatic dismissal from the team.

Head Football Coach Frank Beamer met with Vick and his mother this afternoon and informed the quarterback and his family of the University's decision. His recent actions are unfortunate and we wish him well in his future endeavors.

****

Said Coach Frank Beamer, "I'm very disappointed that this didn't have a better ending. We wanted what's best for this football team and Marcus. I certainly wish him the best."

It wasn't erased. It was merged with this thread. I had just posted a link to the same story that you posted about 20 minutes before you, making your thread somewhat of a duplicate thread. You might want to try and read the whole thread. Besides, how many Marcus Vick threads do we really need?

I didnt feel like reading people opinions of him stomping the guys leg. Either way, hes a dumbass. Guess he will head to the NFL.

Also, this happened on the 17th of december, and they didnt say anything about it until after the bowl game?? Rix parked in a handicap spot last year and it was on espn 10 minutes later. hah. Guess they wanted to win that bowl game pretty bad..

I don't think that there's an NFL team out there that would want him right now. He's only played like what, l 12 games in college?

Think how bad a guy with the talent of Marcus Vick has to screw up to have this happen.

The same with TO. You'd think Vick was smart enough to realize how many chances he's been given. You'd also think the conversations with Big Brother would have sunk in as well. Big Brother tried to tell him to get his head on straight and stay out of trouble if he wanted to make it to the big time.

Oh well.....
