Regardless, the main point was that he didn't want to be away from his family so much. So it doesn't matter what his position or salary was. Money isn't always everything. Coaches families make a lot of sacrifices.

Oh I agree. I think his decision was probably 2 parted...if he had received the promotion to Fancher's spot I'm betting he wouldn't have resigned though.

It was the combination of not moving up the ladder, and missing out on family time IMO.

That's what I'd guess. That's also why I think he ends up in coaching again someday.
