I'm concerned....very concerned.

We're probably counting on the RBs to take some of the pressure off the freshman. Also, I don't believe it has been established that Marlin will indeed be the backup. jmo

Lane’s status in question: Running back Marlin Lane’s status is in question after he missed practice on Thursday.
Running backs coach Robert Gillespie confirmed Lane’s absence, but did not go into details of why he missed, only saying that he’s “not practicing right now.”
Lane also missed last Tuesday’s practice for what head coach Butch Jones termed a family health issue. Jones was not made available for comment on the issue on Thursday.
Lane was the team’s second-leading rusher in 2012 with 658 yards to go along with two touchdowns. He started six games after an injury to Rajion Neal.

I just don't see CBJ being the type to make up something like "family health issues" if it wasn't. If it was disciplinary I would think he would just say something along the lines of "he's got some issues he has to work through". Jones just seems like someone who is more up front about stuff.

I'm thinking last Tuesday it was because of family health issues. Maybe he got into trouble since then? Or was supposed to return by x date and hasn't?

He has practiced since then, so its not an issue of not coming back. Could be academics, curfew/team rules violation, etc.

Marlin Lane...not at practice today and missed yesterday's team meeting. This is concerning!!!

Not concerning at all. Family is way more important than football and really respect that he has his priorities in line. Football should always come 2nd to family.
