Come on now you cant consider all of those whiffs. We werent even in on have of those until the last two weeks. It was an accomplishment even getting some of those guys on campus with the month & a half Kiffin had to recruit.

Just IMO...but if Brown has any kind of ego he will come here...

None of the places he is considering have as much of an opportunity to be the #1 WR immediately as we do....

I know...that's sad

I don't know. I have been reading about all of these silent commits and surprises that we could expect today, just figured most of them had to come from that list.

After all the silent commits and surprises were supposed to be part of the reasoning behind pushing Boyd and Thigpen out.

I would say that if we don't land Marlon, that would be our only true whiff, as that was the staff's #1 goal.

yeah i would say we would have had a better shot at alot more of them if we had boyd coming..he could have helped recruit for us. i knew it was a bad move when he did it....this is a bummer....

If I had to wager a guess there will be a relatively small percentage of those "whiffs" that will ever make us regret them.

a.) Some committed to schools we won't ever play.
b.) Thigpen was not a whiff.
c.) Those that committed to the current "recruiting machines" (LSU, Bama, etc.) are going to have to fight harder just to land playing time, which means some of them will transfer to Tulane and won't even affect our program in the slightest manner.
d.) Some will become starters that will underachieve regardless of where they are playing.

Thus the phrase inexact science.

Marlon likes tOSU, he likes the people, he likes Tressell, but he was befriended in a big way by Pryor. They got very close over time and that's his biggest pull.

Marlon likes UT, he likes the attention CLK has given him, he's made him THE priority. He liked the team on his visit, and he really likes the idea that's been sold to him that he's a very important guy. He feels obligated to come to UT, b/c it's in state and he does realize the value his commitment would place in this class.

Bottom line is, he's struggling between the two IMO. The only way he chooses UGA is if he decides he doesn't want to have to live with picking one over the other.

In the end, I'll say I like him to pick UT. But that's about 60%. I think OSU is 30% and UGA is 10%.

That's pretty much the summary of several of our conversations, and this is the first time I've told it completely.

You can't take a list of players full of a bunch of people you made a last-minute push at and then when you didn't get them call it a whiff, IMO.
