Martin might replace Mears in the 5 next year

I really don't see Mears leaving. Unless Mears leaves on his own terms. Perhaps he goes back to Ganassi next year or maybe even Penske. Casey's a good guy, but if not for his family probably wouldn't be in Nascar to begin with.

If Hendricks is going after another driver, they should try to get Smoke. Talk about a dream team!

where do you think Keselowski will be driving next year? Is JR Motorsports going to the Sprint Cup or will Martin split time with him next year at Hendricks?

Who couldn't see Casey getting run out of the 5 car? I think everyone who thought about it could see this coming from the beginning of the year. If Martin takes over good for him. Maybe he will have better luck.

Whoever goes in there better be satisfied with 4th rate stuff. I think Mark would accept that role better than most others.

i think smoke has already had enough of sharing the limelight with kyle n denny... last thing he would do is share it wtih 3 others

As a Hendrick fan I would be happy to have Mears back but understand that it's a business based on results. I don't agree that he drives 4th rate equipment because he has the same equipment that Kyle Busch drove at Hendrick. They run the same engines in all their cars and he has Alan Gustafson and team, that's not 4th rate. It makes sense to run Mark Martin in the car because it is short term so that they can work Brad Keselowski in.

SONOMA, Calif. -- Shortly after climbing from his No. 42 Dodge and getting cleaned up a bit, Juan Montoya emerged from his hauler after Sunday's Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway and had only one question.

"Is it really true that Casey Mears is out of the 5 car?" Montoya asked.

Keselowski to the 8 car for DEI, makes sense.

Don't forget about the 4th Childress car next year too.

This is interesting stuff.

USAF, they're talking about splitting time with Martin and Keselowski in the 5. DEI has already said that Aric Amirola will pilot the 8 full time next year and they have several sponsorship opportunities.

it sounds as if it's up to Martin to decide what he wants to do. if he wants one last shot, the full time 5 ride is his and Keselowski will race the 88 for JR Motorsports. if not, Mark and Brad will share time in the 5 with the thought being that Keselowski will take over full time for the 2010 season.

Three options

1.Brad K and Mark split time
2.Mark makes a last year attempt at running for the championship
3.Brad and Tony end up in the 66 and 70 rides next year with Tony being majority owner. All the while Mark runs full time in the 5 or if he doesn't want to complete the full schedule Landon Cassill will be there as well to perhaps run a few
