If they are responding, they are already too late. I condemn the rioting and looting as much as anyone, but to say the cops were somehow going to prevent it is laughable, unless you want a police state.

I think I see where your head is at but one of the areas where direct intervention can have a demonstrable effect is rioting/looting. Some random murderer or rapist is going to be exceedingly unlucky to actually have a LEO right there when they are trying to perpetrate their crime. Lots of this looting/riot business happens in known locations with known objectives. This for instance can absolutely stop crimes that could have otherwise occurred.



If there were a bunch of would be looters in front of these guys and my private business/livelihood behind them I'd be quite happy to have them there.
