And you would think that people would learn to distrust Wikipedia by now... *sigh* Besides... the mid-1550's doesn't have anything to do with the word Razorback. It's attempting to date the time period where the species was brought to America, not named untill ~240 years later to scrufa, not Razorback.

Thanks HawaiiVol!

*sigh* Some of us have better sense than to even go to the Wikipedia site. :eek:k: ....Toodles!

Can you disprove desoto didnt call them razorbacks? didnt think so.

Can you prove he did?

Razorback wasn't coined in English til 1815. Now if you can find some Spanish documentation dating back to the 1550's coining the term Razorback, I'll gladly pronounce you correct. Besides, your wikipedia entry said they were called Old World Swine.

Grammar aside, I do know Desoto is dead and will have no bearing on tommorrows game..

I wouldn't be so sure. They could conjure his spirit since he is the originator of the term 'razorback' and is therefore held in esteemed reverence.

Sorry bout that Bubba....It is bilingual, hit the u instead of the i.......hang me....ROFL

BTW, Grammar is the use of the words of the English language, "SPELLING aside" would have been a suitable comment since the misspelled word was used in proper context..

At the time he lived I would have to assume he was bi-lungual since the surgery technique hadn't been developed to remove a lung...

just got backto read this and Im laughing, of course I understand why the pig fans get so up in arms when someone makes fun of the swine, it's got to be a touchy subject, imagine trying to strike fear in an opponent or be proud of .........bacon, or a pork chop.

Yes... de Soto was a Spanish conquistador (explorer), therefore he spoke.... oh my gosh!!!!... SPANISH! Razorback is English. Now I think I'm done. Or should be.
