Mass exodus from Ky football

There is a major overhaul of the roster happening. Stoops pretty much point blank told certain players to leave. Some were told they could leave if they wanted for their last year or two. The staff is hoping to bring in a giant transfer portal class. Unless we kill it in the portal, which I doubt, we are headed for an even worse season next year. Stoops is mentally checked out.

Dane Key #1 Wide Receiver
Barion Brown #2 WR
Anthony Brown Stephens back up WR
Brandon White back up WR
Keeshawn Silver starter on DL, sounds like this will be his third transfer
Tommy Ziesmer back up DL
Caleb Redd back up DE
Courtland Ford backup OL,
Khamari Anderson backup TE
Jordan Dingle had starting experience at TE
Jayvant Brown, back up LB
Avery Stuart back up DB
Gavin Wimsatt back up QB, second transfer
Chip Trayanum back up RB, second transfer

apparently they only have 2 high school recruits left from their 2022 class

Never did understand that hire. Ole Sam has lasted longer than I thought there in hogland.

They were in bad shape after the Chad Morris disaster. Needed someone "safe" to rebuild the program just a bit before going big game hunting. Safest way to build anything is to start with the lines and Pittman is an OL guru.

Think Matt Luke at Ole Miss after the High Freeze issue. Let him stabilize things for 3-4 years and get back to mediocrity then canned him and hired Kiff.

I mean if your coach isn’t bought in and is apparently going through the motions why should you buy in. Who would want to play for that?
It is a basketball school. Even Bear Bryant realized that and moved on from Lexington.

Arky is a really tough job. In the 16-team SEC they are probably the 11th or 12th strongest program historically, but they expect to win 8-9 games every year and talk about firing the coach the second he doesn't do it.

Under the old divisional structure, the only school with less resources than them was probably Miss St and maybe Ole Miss, but they expect to be consistently be competitive with A&M, LSU, Alabama, and Auburn. It's tough.

Kentucky made some really bad recruiting and transfer decisions and Pop Warner couldn't coach those guys up.

How they beat Ole Miss in Oxford should be investigated by the FBI and Securities and Exchange Commission as possible point shaving.

Very similar to my White Sox in baseball. They were on the rise a few years ago and then signed some young guys to huge contracts and have been the worst team in history since.

I'm not sure Kentucky can turn this around even in the transfer era because of the reputation hit. Stoops' window to leave for a better job has closed. The culture has eaten the program and that culture looks a lot like Gerald Mincey.

Frank Broyles was a great coach. The Hogs battled Texas neck and neck in the day. Those were glory days for the program and expectations were raised, sort of like for Nebraska fans with Bob Devaney. The SEC is a very different animal, though, and it has been very hard to be competitive year-in and year-out, let alone to compete for championships.
