Mass exodus from Ky football

Arky is a really tough job. In the 16-team SEC they are probably the 11th or 12th strongest program historically, but they expect to win 8-9 games every year and talk about firing the coach the second he doesn't do it.

Under the old divisional structure, the only school with less resources than them was probably Miss St and maybe Ole Miss, but they expect to be consistently be competitive with A&M, LSU, Alabama, and Auburn. It's tough.
Well, Ole Miss is doing exactly that right now and even Missouri to an extent. It’s not necessarily losing games that hurts Pittman, it’s the way it happens with just undisciplined football. Often outgaining the other team and losing despite looking like the better team. He has an awful record in one-score games due to poor coaching decisions late in games.

I wouldn't say Mizzou has been consistently competitive with those schools. Drink went 17-19 in his first 3 years, had a really good 2023, and had another good year this year although they were completely non-competitive against the 2 best teams they played (A&M and Alabama). 9-3 is a good record for them, and they didn't lose to any bad teams, but their best win was probably against Arky or Boston College.

If you view "money that certain boosters have but won't give to the football program," Arkansas probably has more of that except for Nebraska (Warren Buffett). I do agree that a huge part of Pittman's problem at Arky has been horrible in-game coaching. I'm still scratching my head at the Oklahoma St loss.

There is a major overhaul of the roster happening. Stoops pretty much point blank told certain players to leave. Some were told they could leave if they wanted for their last year or two. The staff is hoping to bring in a giant transfer portal class. Unless we kill it in the portal, which I doubt, we are headed for an even worse season next year. Stoops is mentally checked out.
He checked out a year ago when the A&M boosters blackballed his hiring in College Station.

I knew Stoops was stupid but I’m shocked he’s being this idiotic. Is he trying to destroy Kentucky football before he goes???

I mean I’ll admit I’m going to enjoy this show, seems like he wants to burn the whole house down first
he may be trying to speed up the process. it seems like he wants out, but they are not yet giving him the out he wants. so he is just going to keep making things worse and worse until they do.

They were in bad shape after the Chad Morris disaster. Needed someone "safe" to rebuild the program just a bit before going big game hunting. Safest way to build anything is to start with the lines and Pittman is an OL guru.

Think Matt Luke at Ole Miss after the High Freeze issue. Let him stabilize things for 3-4 years and get back to mediocrity then canned him and hired Kiff.
Noticed Matt Luke was coaching at Clemson. Knew he had stepped away from UGA, but didn’t know he had gotten back into coaching.

I'm amazed at the delusion of uk fans. They are on fb talking about firing Stoops and all kinds of crazy anger rants throughout the season. Where did this inflated sense of self worth come from? Stoops is the best coach in the history of uk football and they want him gone. I think he is doing a remarkable job there considering the facilities and resources. Do they really expect to be competing for national championships?

What has anyone done for them ever? they have 4 ten win seasons in school history. They should be used to this. I just don't understand the expectation. They are below .500 for average winning percentage for the last 123 years.
