If the coaches don't read this message board or the other ones that are out there they are the ones missing out. There's a lot of people that write good opinions on sports that can help solve problems that some coaches can't see or even know about. Like I said, they want admit to it. But I wonder, at times, like when they're at home & alone in their study or in the bed to call it a day if they don't just take a peek for their enjoyment. But whatever makes them feel all uppity & gets them through the night I really don't care one way or another. I was just throwing this out there for discussion which I think is interesting.

Dream on.

I know for a fact that, even if the coaches themselves don't actively read these message boards, someone on the staff is assigned to follow the boards and report to the coaches on content/comments.

What evidence backs up that "fact?"

Uh oh,AllforTenn,in the immortal words of Jim Croce "you don't pull the mask off the old Lone Ranger and you don't mess around with Jim." Unless,of course your name is Slim. Seriously,though,CannonVol80 is very knowledgable and if he says it,I got to go along with it.

Mean while back at the ranch and back to the original post for this thread. I'm sure everyone knows but most have forgotten why there is no details being reported. When you go to the doctor, each year you are required to read and sign a form know as HEPA. By law you are required to list who medical information pertaining to you can have that information shared with. I'm sure no one has listed the general public as a contact for sharing their information with. Ah ... now you remember that form they always have you read and sign annually. No I'm not smart, I just happened to have gone to the doctor last week and I have stayed at a Holiday Inn. :eek:lol:

In the NFL they announce specific injuries every week: a player gets a concussion or a knee injury, they say, he's got a concussion or a knee injury. In college now, a player gets a hangnail and it is a state secret.

I thought it was HIPAA but I could be wrong.

HEPA is an air filter. But, it's an easy misunderstanding. And, I mean that in all seriousness.

Massengale must have suffered a slight concussion. She was talking on twitter about watching tv so seems her vision is ok.

Yes she was going for a loose ball and a Fla player accidentally swiped her across the face. It didn't really seem like she was hit very hard but I wasn't the one receiving the blow. I think it's more of a precaution more than anything

Yes, and in the NFL players are required by the league to sign waivers to allow teams to release the information. In college they are not.

I'll say it again since you've ignored it the other two times I've posted it: IF THE PLAYER DOES NOT SIGN A HIPPA RELEASE TO ALLOW THE SCHOOL TO RELEASE INJURY INFORMATION, THE SCHOOL CAN NOT RELEASE ANYTHING ABOUT THE INJURY.

that Hippa or no Hippa, it is a stupid, absurd rule. Of course if you tell players, we won't release any information about injuries unless you sign this form, many if not most will not feel any need to sign it. It is very easy simply not to sign it. But back to Massengale: She probably suffered a concussion, that is all it could be, that or a broken nose. But shhsss: let's not tell anyone!

Is it really a big deal one way or the other? It's college athletics. They are very young adults. The coaching staff is going to play and dress who they are going to play and dress regardless. The only thing I see being withheld is informational curiosity to those with no inherent right to have it. Maybe it is a dumb rule, maybe it isn't, but with privacy and young amateur athletes, better to error to more privacy than less.
