mattress shopping

My current mattress is a Stearns and Foster. 8 years later and I have to say it's still holding up. I avoid the problematic dip by rotating it every 6 months or so and this works as I tend to sleep on one side of it. It's a pillow top so flipping it is not an option.

My friend bought a queen foam "Mattress In a Box" from Walmart. She seems to like it but I'm fairly certain I could never do foam myself as I'm a very hot natured person. She now needs the box spring and frame. Any ideas on where to get these fairly cheap?

You could likely find someone giving away a frame + boxspring

From what I've read the all foam models have incorporated some very good ways to get the air out. Yesterday was no help, the salesman only had one mattress he really wanted to sell me and I wasn't all that impressed it with it. Doing more research into the latex models

It's funny you mentioned the dip and pillow top issue. We've experienced that a bit, but man is it comfortable. I go on trips and can't wait to get home and get in my own bed

All latex? Latex over foam or foam over latex?

100% natural latex. We did a lot of research when we were looking to replace out 10 y/o memory foam mattress and decided latex was the way to go for us. Shopped all the furniture and mattress stores and even online sources. Least expensive latex over foam and coils was over $2000 and that only got us about 4 inches of latex and was just the mattress, no box springs, bed etc.

We bought this one with a new bed for the cost of just the cheapest mattress everywhere else.

The latex idea seems good from everything I've looked up. How firm are they?

I went king size sleep number. Even got the old mans adjustable head/feet option. Love it. Put a pillow top on the bed and silky smooth lyocel sheets. It's hard to get out of bed in the am. Also, the ladies want to come back.

Just keep yore old one in case you need to have something to burn when the football program goes haywire.

Is such a fraud. I did the whole spiel of going into the stores and lying down on all the floor models. Actually found an upper mid level far more comfy than the really expensive ones. Did some research though and reviews on it aren't flattering, but I also noticed that reviews aren't flattering from most models. Anyone have advice?

I bought mine off SAMs clubs website. It's basically a knockout of the tempurpedic cloud. It was only 4 or 500

We love it.

Any heat issues? Like does the bed sleep hot. I'm looking at those models. Also, what size did you get?

10. I thought it would be a bit firmer. We were trying to mimic the lower end cloud model when we bought it two years ago. I think the cloud model we liked was 11.

Was it the 10" model of either of those two I listed? I wonder if going to 12" or 13" would make it firmer or softer?

We bought ours two years ago. Those are a bit different because they have the my gel in them. It must be something new they added.

And I think we should have went a bit thicker to make it firmer.

Thanks. Thanks everyone for the input. I think I'm going with the gel one from Sam's. The only real knocks on it from from reviews is that it has an odor for a few hours aand only lasts 1/2 as long as the Tempurpedic. Yet it costs 1/3 of the price.
