As the ole saying goes...We never ever know what's going on inside another person's mind. Mental illness and depression are as real as cancer. I have a good friend who played with the Houston Astro's in the 70's. He recently ask me privately (I would never reveal his name) to pray for him as the doctors tried to get his medication correct for depression. I was stunned as he always seemed so upbeat and hilarious to me. He explained he had struggled with depression most of his life and it was inherited from his mother. A chemical imbalance so it can be treated with meds. He's feeling much better now but it reminds me never to take the "good days" for granted for we ALL are one step away from a struggle! Prayed for you Brian!

I’m glad she made that call and that it gave him what he needed to avoid a tragic decision. Would have scarred a whole fanbase and university and that’s secondary to what it would’ve done to his family...who had already struggled with life’s unfairness. Had two uncles commit suicide and there was a script set by the first that made us recognize the second was imminent. When you’re powerless to stop it, there’s a pall of hopelessness left with those left behind. A couple of weeks ago, I called out a poster who expressed unabashed HATRED of Guarantano. Explicitly elaborated that it wasn’t a figure of speech. Free country and all but some things we need to keep internal...then get help. Love football but people come first. Rant over.

It was very brave of him to share his story. Depression is real and this just validates the saying we never know what a person may be going through. I commend him for sharing and am rooting for him even more now. Love seeing so much support for him in this thread! 🧡

Hate to hear that out of BM.

Understandable knowing how he grew up and how he never reached out for help.

You have to talk to people about your problems. No matter who you are, if you aren't honest with your issues then at best you end up a bitter old bastard.

Happy he is finding some hope for himself! Kid has a lot of potential and I for one love him on rocky top!

He was vital in helping Jumpstart this program and we can never forget that.

I think I recall him having a crazy ex girlfriend back in January.

What a brave man to help others going through similar mental challenges.

Normal is a setting on a washing machine.
I'm willing to bet quite a few of us have heard this and know what it means.
