Maybe Lane is Who We Think...

You know, after that article came out a few years ago about how he had found God and was remorseful, I had hoped he truly had changed. I think it’s sad and obviously that was all a lie.
Why can't both be true? He found God and was remorseful. He also is a human being who will get caught up in his feelings at times. Personally, I don't want Lane back and never have, but I would rather not waste my time bashing him or anyone else.

In what universe does anyone believe that Kiffin will still be at Ole Miss by the time Arch graduates from high school

Because...it's only a year away, Francis. Lighten up. Arch graduates in 2023. He will no doubt commit prior to starting his senior year, or that at any rate seems likely. Even if he doesn't he likely will commit by this time next year.

In what universe is Lane Kiffin going to be at Ole Miss for a single addtional season when it's very likely Arch Manning commits to Ole Miss.

My God man. The number of times I have to explain 100% obvious ish on this board simply blows my mind.

I agree. I don’t have a high opinion of either one of them.
And yet, this morning's Baton Rouge paper has both Kiffin and Franklin among the 4 or 5 most likely candidates for LSU job. Disgusting.

They list the most likely as the Michigan State coach (Mel Tucker?). But I would be surprised if the good-ole-boy boosters would be OK with a Black man heading their football program.

So you think that Arch's committing to Ole Miss would keep Kiffin there if a more lucrative or prestigious job came available. Given Kiffin's history of suspect behavior and actions I just don't see him any different now than he was then. Being condescending is not a good look unless that is the look you're going for.

Point (a) Kiffin won't get a better offer this year IMO. I don't think he'll get a sniff from USC Senior. They have been there, done that, and it was hardly an amicable parting. LSU is up to it's eyeballs in Oregen's sleaze (he apparently hit on the pregnant wife of a high ranking University official!, among many other sketchy items). The last thing they want is Joey Freshwater. (Then again, it IS LSU, maybe they don't care, but I think they have to more selective than ole Joey!).

Point(b) Kiffin loves the idea of having Arch Manning. Have you seen him brag on Matt Corrall? Constantly builds him up, says he's the difference maker, etc. Kiffin is almost literally drooling at the prospect of Arch. He gets not only the no. 1 QB recruit, but on some lists no. 1 player, at the place that had Archie and Eli, and with all the attention the Manning name brings. Kiffin wants this very badly.

So yeah, he's gonna stick around until Arch makes his decision. But that's likely less than a year away.

In the meantime, IMO neither LSU nor Senior is an option for Lane, so not sure what other "high profile" job he would want this year.

I will say this though...if it's anywhere, it will be LSU, just because they seem to pride themselves on not having any standards. They let an obviously cheating bball coach stay a couple years ago, hired Ogeron who - was caught cheating at Senior AND Ole Miss (and UT from what I have heard, but maybe not caught), and had been convicted of domestic battery (or perhaps just charged). So maybe they don't care that Lane has been pond scum in the past. LSU has such low standards that maybe he can be a good fit there.

Point taken, I just hope that the Mannings are the class people I think they are and would not encourage one of their own to be influenced by a coach with his obvious lack of moral and ethical standards. What is the myth of Lane Kiffin is the reality of him as well.
