Cool. Well, let me ask you this. Can he dominate a game? You say he isn't flashy but does he ever just take over a game?

If you don't know that much about him why do you want him so bad?

IMO, Leslie can take over a game in more than one way.

Exactly, Leslie probably moved down because he excels by playing smart, fundamental basketball.
For example, someone like O.J. Mayo can score 30 points, but he has to take 20 to 25 shots to score those points. One of Leslie's biggest strengths is efficiency. He consistently scores 25 points while only takes 10-15 shots per game.
Ultimately, McDonald will be the player we HAVE to get in the class of '09. My reasoning behind this is simple.
1. While he could be a one-and-done, he has the mindset and the academic success that will make him stay three or four years.
2. As I stated above, his efficiency. While he does it all the time for us at Briarcrest, he may only have three or four games in his college career where he goes for 30+ points, 8+ rebounds, 6+ assists. But night to night, he will give his team 18 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists.
3. He plays his best in big games. With the new era at Tennessee, big games are becoming more common. In games against Florida, Kentucky, Ohio State, Kansas, Memphis, Xavier. In the biggest games of the past two seasons at Briarcrest, here are his numbers:
37 points vs. MRA
29 points, 17 rebounds vs. Overton
34 points, 10 rebounds vs. White Station (Joe Jackson)
26 points, 12 rebounds vs. Covington
21 points, 11 rebounds vs. Paducah-Tilghman (KY)
25 points, 14 rebounds vs. Ridgeway (state champions)
28 points, 7 rebounds vs. Father Henry Carr (top-ranked prep team in Canada)
23 points vs. Team Urspring (top-ranked prep team in Germany) (two seniors going to Miami, Nebraska; junior ranked first in all of Germany)
26 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, 5 steals vs. Archbishop Carroll (DC) (Kansas St. signee, Syracuse signee) (championship game of Arby's Classic - MVP)
32 points, 12 rebounds vs. CBHS
24 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals vs. NE Lauderdale (MS) (Romero Osby)
28 points, 8 rebounds vs. ECS (final four of state tournament)
15 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 6-6 FTs vs. CBHS (state championship)

If Leslie chooses to attend Tennessee, I have no doubt in my mind he will become one of the top players in school history.

Great post LifeLongVol.

While I will disagree on him coming to UT, lol, I know your completely right.

IMHO, I think he is ideal in Georgetown's system. But that's just me.

And another thing. In an old thread somebody said he would go to school wherever is girlfriend does. Is that true?

well his girlfriend doesnt have a say since she is only a sophomore right now. and johnny has been offered by Oklahoma state and Purdue and i believe Oklahoma. thats just off the top of my head. of course johnny has been offered by smaller schools but those are the "Big Dogs" that have offered him. as far as an sec player, i believe he could work his way into being one.

I do not think Johnny has a legit offer from Tennessee at this point. However, if Duke Crews can play in the post at Tennessee without any offensive moves besides a dunk, Johnny can play. His range extends to about 15 feet. Outside of that, he can make it, but you don't want him shooting that shot more than twice a game. His touch inside 10 feet is very good tho.
I think Johnny is better suited for a smaller school than Tennessee tho. Somewhere like Oklahoma St. or Purdue or Mississippi St. is perfect for him.

Is he the best player in Memphis in y'alls eyes?

It's a toss up between Leslie, Elliot Williams, and Joe Jackson. Each of them are superior in certain aspects of the game.
Elliot is an explosove wing player with a streaky shot. He excels in the fast break. His length is nearly unmatched at his height. His only weaknesses are his strength and a consistent outside shot.
Leslie, of course, is the all-around player. He rebounds, plays hard defense, passes the ball well. His mid-range game is amazing compared to other players. I would be willing to bet it is better than the majority of current college players. His outside shot is improving day by day. Last summer, in a summer league game against White Station, he was 8-11 from three-point range.
Joe Jackson is a true point guard. He has great ball-handling, a good outside shot, super quick hands and feet.

I would actually bet that Joe Jackson is the best player in Memphis, but Leslie is the kind of player than can fit into any system.

I agree with the guy that said he is a great fit for Georgetown, but Leslie will excel in any system, whether it's G-Town's offense, Tennessee's run-n-gun, or Memphis' dribble drive motion.

That doesn't make sense. Has Leslie been hurt or something? Why would they bump him down?

Before you all get your panties in a wad, Jerry Meyer attributed his drop in the fact that he hasn't established himself as either a true point guard or a solid SG. I think he has a very valid point.

Another problem is that he is not a point guard, but he plays the one on AAU. But trust me, as a pure wing player, he is one of the top 15 players in the country.

No matter what his rank, Leslie is going to perform night in and night out like he is the number one player in the nation. If we were to sign him, it would be just as big a signing as landing Hopson.
