This is at least the 3rd time when ObamaCare has negative consequences and the Dems have blamed businesses rather than the dumb arse bill.

Kinda like a good "misdirection" in football.

When you screw something up, and the majority see it, blame it on someone else.

Would obamamacare cover plastic surgery for Henry Waxman???

I doubt that there is a plastic surgeon that could help DeLauro though.

Ronald McDonald looks good compared to them.

Uhh? What's the negative consequence? That McDonald's will no longer be able to rip off its employees with a sham health insurance plan?

With its $10,000 annual limit - the McDonald's health care plan will cover pretty much no surgery at all. You can't even cover the cost of appendix removal for that amount.

Its basically a scam to effectively reduce wages by $14 a week.

Their health plan is pretty silly, and i'm willing to bet that there isn't a wealth of benefit knowledge held by anyone at 80 percent of franchises.

It is an option available to employees - the vast majority do not require surgery in any given year. The vast majority don't hit the annual max.

People can choose to buy it or not. The new rule it violates is that 80-85% of premiums must go to actual HC coverage. The problem is that with the amount of turnover the administrative costs of HC plans exceed this rule.

The result? NO COVERAGE OFFERED. So what is better - some coverage or no coverage.

This is what we've become. Not only do people expect HC coverage but the expect top notch coverage for basically nothing.

Most likely, McDs will drop these mini-coverage plans and people that had some insurance will now have none until they can hit the exchanges in 2014 and we all can pay for it.

Cutting off the nose to spite the face comes to mind.

When the company cuts wages or lays people off they can thank Obama for forcing this change. You can blame McDonalds and the evil capitalist businesses out there. but the effects were spelled out in great detail ahead of time. Obama's great achievement will bring consequences. And unfortunately these consequences will affect more than fast food workers - a major portion of the labor force will see negative issues.

not sure why we care if illegal immigrants, drug addicts, and high school students have healthcare.

This plus the Chinese money thread, both have posts of hypocrisy. People are calling the unemployed bums living off government when they don't find work. Yet when in reference to jobs at McDonald's or manufacturing jobs sent overseas, we tell them to find better jobs. I say we just find all illegals, black people, gays, drug addicts, and all the problems that come with them and throw them in the incinerators and replace them with robots. Then we won't have to convince ourselves that they aren't human with blatant stereotypes.

Thats the difference in depending on yourself for your future, and depending on the government for it.

When the only door you have is MCDs, you have left yourself that option. Then you should deal with what comes from that. Be it bad working conditions, low pay, healthcare options......

I work at MCDs and I am planning on owning a franchise. So i Guess I am an uneducated American that attends college trying to obtain my masters in Business Administration. Just to let everyone know, just because you are on the other side of the counter doesn't mean that the person taking your money is an idiot. I believe you are the idiot for eating that ****ty ass food.
PS: The coverage is optional and I choose not to use it because I want to keep my extra $14 a week.

i'd suggest you aren't very bright if you think being a manager at mcdonalds and trying to buy a franchise in this country where the market is already massively saturated is your way to financial independence, but hey it's a free country. i'd also suggest turning down health insurance so you can get an extra $14 a week doesn't exactly scream genius level thinking.

As a franchisee owner you can make over 500k in profit a year depending on location and how you want to run your own business. My aspirations is not to become a manager, its to own one.

You save and invest your money in the money market. And yes I do believe this economy will come bounce back for me to put most of my money back into the market. There are already plenty of opportunities to invest as of now.
