I just checked on Ineanacho. Leaning Ducks. We’re still in his top 11.

GMac is a project just like Nico. He’s either going to be really good or will be extremely raw and flash enough potential at times that keeps the staff and fans bought in with him
If Nico was a project he wouldn’t have been the starter this past season. Lol

I think you're correct.

Honestly give the kid credit for having the balls and confidence to sign in between Jake and Faizon. He has an uphill battle trying to beat out Jake for the starting job...Jake is just as talented, bigger and stronger, with a full years experience advantage in our system. IF GMac somehow beats out Jake, then he is gonna be a real badazz and Jake will immediately transfer.

Nico isn’t a project and was far more advanced than GMac coming out of high school. Nico was a true 5*. GMac is correctly rated as a 4*. In fact, I think Merklinger was more polished coming out of high school than Mac, but Mac has higher upside/raw ability (mainly arm talent).

Also, Mac will need at least 2 years to get up to a decent playing weight. He has so far to go, I’m not sure he won’t always be underweight in college, though.

I can name nearly a dozen QBs that made bigger impacts than him in their first or second year in college. Starting as a redshirt freshman is no longer an accomplishment and is something that is expected from a top 5 overall player coming out of HS. He threw for 9 TDs in conference play in 9 games. 4 of those came against Bama and 2 came against Mississippi State. He was definitely a project when we got him, and is still extremely raw. He struggles to pick up pre snap reads and is seemingly incapable of going past his second progression after being on campus for 24 months

Ugh, Nico is a crazy talent. Lol, you're wrong here.
He has great athleticism and a great arm. He still has a very long way to go before he can be considered a high caliber college QB though. At best he will likely be the 3rd or 4th best QB in the conference next season behind Lagway, Sellers, Arch, and could very well be behind Simmons and Mateer

Or he could be the best. Prognostication either way is useless. No telling whether our game plans will be closer to 22’ or 24’. His growth could exceed the others, whose lights came on younger and closer to peak.

Betting he is freed to throw into tighter windows and maybe go back to his throwing 50/50 balls not employed much this past season. Like his POTENTIAL as much as anyone, including Arch.

We were very risk averse to avoid short fields to take advantage of this past year’s defense. MIGHT see more of a gunslinger approach with the off/def mix and the probable youth at RB and WR. Might not have that bell cow back to conservatively feature too. A new day.

LOTS OF POSSIBILITIES, probabilities may be clearer after spring. Impossible right now.

At best? 😂 everything you just said is speculation. Nico had better QB stats than Sellers and Lagway (currently a TO machine). Arch had 2 good games. Simmons who knows, hasn’t played enough. Mateer might be legit but tough to say bc he played bad competition.

At best, Nico could be the best QB in the conference. That’s his “at best”. He might not be. But that’s his potential.
