Meachum....Will he live up to the hype?

Will Robert Meachum live up to the hype this year or is he still a year or two away from success?

Yes, he does tend to be injury prone as does Cedric Houston. Maybe between the two of them and Jabari the rushing attack will return to the years when the backfield was crowded but also producted:

Reggie Cobb and Chuck Webb
Charlie Garner, James Stewart, and Aaron Hayden
Jamal Lewis, Travis Henry, and Travis Stephens

And don't foget Mose Phillips had a few good games as did Shawn Bryson. Its quite an impressive list when you think that

Reggie Cobb was 1,000-yd rusher in the NFL for the Tampa Bay Bucs
Chuck Webb played for the Green Bay Packers until he reinjured his knee
Charlie Garner is a perennial all-star in the NFL (Eagles, 49ers, Raiders)
James Stewart has been a solid starter in the NFL for the Jaguars & Lions
Aaron Hayden played for the Green Bay Packers
Jamal Lewis broke the rushing record last year for the Ravens
Travis Henry has a couple of 1,000-yd seasons for the Bills
Shawn Bryson led the Lions in rushing last year and also played for the Bills
Travis Stephens has played for the Bucs and Texans
Mose Phillips played in Arena Football

and we could also mention Onterrio Smith as well as a few other blocking fullbacks who have kicked around a few teams in the NFL as well.

Man I miss the days of a great running game.

I miss the days of great games, period. [/quote]
:dunno:

Did you sleep through us going on the road and beating Miami and Florida last year?

No, I didn't. :shakeit:

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I miss the days where every game didn't have to be a nail-biter. These 5-overtime and down-to-last-second victories are killing me!!

If the line gets in gear then I think we have an RB coach who will give us the RB we need. Riggs and Yancey will be the answer.

Not the Yancey thing again! :shakehead: ;)

Cedric Houston has been looking good so far too. If Jabari Davis were smart, he'd redshirt this season (like Travis Stephens did).

I don't know that it's a matter of being smart . . . redshirting your senior year would have to be a tough thing to do especially when the tailback position is relatively still wide open. Even if he doesn't start, he'll still get significant carries.
