Ive ever read to give inside peeks at the recriting game and I absolutely reccommend this book to anyone with any doubts as to what kind of people Kiffin has hired under him...you will see USC talent in 2 years on the field here..Orgeron is a beast of a coach and recruiter (no joke intended)

Currently reading it as well... only 2 chapters left. It really is a fun book to read, and I am not a reader at all. Other than for school assignments, I can't remember the last book I read for fun. Definitely recommend it!

It's better the second time plus the fact that the kids they talk about are playing now makes it fun to see how they turned out.

Totally agree and we have the Coach the book was written about and Frank Wilson.

where else will he go? NFL didn't pan out, and he's already one of the highest paid assistant coaches in the country.

i think he'll be here for a while, and possibly take over for monte when he retires.

o has it made.
+1

He will find it a tough a road to hoe when he starts looking for a HC position somewhere because of how poorly he done at Ole Miss

Yeah...its kinda funny to see the kid (i forgot his name) that picked MSU over Ole Miss so he could "rock his #2" not exactly succeeding.

I don't see Orgeron getting another shot as head coach unless one of Louisiana's directional schools takes a gamble on him. And those places probably couldn't even give him a raise.

I didn't see it in there. I had to go to Barnes and Noble.

i dont know how bad O did at Ole Miss, all those kids that played there last year on that surprising team were O's recruits..... Houston Nutt is just a better game coach than O is all. O can definitely recruit, and Snead trasnferred there when O was the coach, not Nutt..... btw i think Snead is the best QB in the SEC this season, anyone else think hes better than te-blow?

Just finished the book. It's an awesome read! Tons of insight into "Bebe", as well as Coach Frank Wilson. It was so neat to follow how an SEC program recruiting these players starting in their junior year, and continuing up until the hours before national signing day.

Some of my favorite parts included Coach O visiting a recruit who's father was a cock-fighter, and after watching two roosters tustle he said "Wooooo, Gahhh-daaayam! I say we gotta get our defense to compete like those birds!!! Woooooooo!!".. I also liked reading about all the Red Bulls he downed. I think one day he had 8, haha. The last big thing I loved, which has really continued into our staff's recruiting is how Coach O and Frank Wilson will go after the biggest baddest recruits in the country. His 4-8 Ole Miss team finished second behind USC for Joe McKnight, with O and CFW as the main recruiters. If you read this book, or remember recruiting from that year, then you understand how big of an accomplishment that was.

Similarly our Vols are going after the top talent, and we have had some success recently. All in all, this book is going to pump you up for football season, as well as the future of our program!

V,B!

All of you recruiting junkies, you have got to go and get a copy of Bruce Feldman's book, Meat Market. I just finished reading it, and it was awesome! I normally hate reading, but this book was great. It follows Coach O's 2006 season all the way up to the 2007 NSD. Frank Wilson was an assistant on O's staff, and you get an idea of what he is like as well.

The book follows a lot of O's evaluation of talent, which is really interesting. It also goes really in depth about communicating with recruits, official visits, in house visits, and how the overall recruiting process goes. Just really, really interesting stuff for those of you who enjoy college football recruiting.

We are extremely fortunate to have CEO and CFW on our staff! They are two great guys, who will go out and recruit the top talent in the country to come to the Vols!

I'm gonna go down a RedBull and some pork rinds now :rock2:, but seriously, go get the book. It'll help the time pass until the season starts! V,B!

Spurrier does, he just can't admit it.

Picked up my copy today, finally. They had it at Books-A-Million and Barnes and Noble, both. Had to hit both places for back to school books for the boys.

Can't wait to get into it!!

If you enjoyed reading the Meat Market book, I highly recommend the book Blindside. The primary story is about the life of Michael Oher and how he ended up becoming one of the top OL recruits in the country. The subplots are what I found interesting.
- It gives great insight into why the left tackle is the second highest paid player on most NFL teams.
- A look at how Lawrence Taylor changed the pro game.
- A look at the battles between Bill Parcells NYG defense and Bill Walsh’s SF offences
- A detailed overview of the recruitment of Michael Oher. It really came down to LSU, Ole Miss and UT. This was at the time when Saban bolted to Miami and Cutcliffe was fired. Once your read this it becomes obvious IMO, why Coach Fulmer is no longer at UT.

It is a great read and it will change the way you watch a football game.

I have a hard time believing Oher was going anywhere but OM. And the LT thing isn't really very surprising

Coach O brought in some great talent.. .and then couldn't do jack with it. He just wasn't much of head coach. Nutt is using O's talent and actually getting something out of them. Snead will be a high first round pick by the end of the season.

but he's one of the best recruiters in the nation and a good d-line coach, so he's right where he needs to be. At least for now. Let him bring in the talent and hopefully CLK will develop them into a great team.
