Media scared of Fred!!!

Sorry, I didn't read the whole thing. But this...
Unlike the current crop of declared Republican and Democrat candidates, who have spent years plotting and scheming about how they could win their way to the White House, Fred Thompson is truly being drafted to run by people who are sick of abandoned principles and lack of a moral center.

..is just crap. Don't think for a second that Fred's not been scheming this since he left the senate.

Maybe he has, maybe he hasn't. But I do find it refreshing that if he was scheming it is not as obvious as these career politicans. He certainly has a certain appeal to him because of the fact that he hasn't been slobbering over power year after year like all these others.

I really do think there is some truth to this, he is not running this like everyone else is. It is the best grassroots effort I have ever seen. He has got well over 100,000 people to sign asking him to run. Like it or not Hillary and Obama both scare the hell out of America, atleast the right and center.

Freds famous quote,"after serving in Washington, I long for the realism and sincerity of Hollywood". He has said many times that he doesn't want to be a career politician

Definitely a good line . . . It just remains to be seen what happens once he officially gets in and all the opposition research gets unloaded on him.

I guess I'm just too jaded about this stuff, but no way am I buying the... "Aw shucks, I'll run if you want me to"... angle.

Agreed . . . It's a little comical. I think Newt had his eye on using that angle as well until he saw the groundswell for Thompson.

Yea, I am ready to see some skeleton get pulled out of the closet. My fear is that basically you can see this being set up as the R's all in, "all the marbles" play. I can see a lot of steam getting behind this thing. But if something comes out and there is a backfire, I think the R's are screwed come the Novemeber election.

Mark my words, the so-called "R's" will win hands down unless a white male get the nod for the "D's". I just do not think america as a whole is ready to elect a blackman or a woman. I am not racist or a woman hater. But unless Gore gets in or Edwards has an uprising I think the "R's" have it. I maybe wrong

Maybe Thompson isn't a "career politician," but he's been a campaign manager for Howard Baker, was chief counsel on the Senate Watergate Commmittee, was a lobbyist for 17 hears, and a US Senator for 8 years. Sounds like he's made a career (along with his acting career) out of politics.

So, is it possible to have enough experience for this job and not have served a long time in politics?

So he has served, I don't see it being the same as Hillary. A person you can tell just has an absolute lust for this position. Which basically sickens me.

Where are you getting this information? And what do you think it is about these candidates that scare the hell out of more than half of American voters?

I don't know if it's half or not, but right off the bat you have to assume that there's probably 35-40% that wouldn't vote for them because of their beliefs period.

Well, to me there's a difference between not voting for someone and "scare the hell" out of people. That's a pretty strong statement.

come'on "scare the hell out of people in loose translation just means that they are not ready to vote for them, and the fact of the matter is that with her big government, accent changing depending on location of the speech, socialist views yes Billary really does scare me about the direction she would take this country. What George W Bush has done for the republican party (destroyed it, and turned his own party against him) is the same as what Hillary would do for the Dems.

I get so sick of the statement " I am scared about the direction she/he will take this country"......Same old BS rhetoric republicans throw out there when an election is coming up. I have some old news for you. W has taken this country in the worst possible direction of all time. And while I don't particularly like Hilary, I don't hate her either. There is no way she would ever hurt the Dems like W has hurt the republicans. She is, lets see, like 1000 times more competent than W. Has more knowledge on many more issues than W....and most importanly, wouldn't have a cabinet full of incompetent, clueless cronies. I don't want her as president any more than you do, but it would be so much better than what we have had. I support Obama and will continue to do so until the convention. If Fred gets the Rep nomination, I will probably vote for him over Hillary, but would vote for Obama over Fred.

Incompetent cabinet? Who was SOS under Billary the First? How about the VP?

Forget them, did their crew actually have any criteria for picking the Surgeon General, or did they just take the least qualified person so they could no longer be affiliated with real healthcare?

I know you are a lifelong Rep, but I would take Gore over Cheney any day of the week. Are you really trying to compare Bill Clinton with W?....surely not

I voted for W, and voted for both Rep Senators in the last election.

However, W is a huge disappointmnet, Gore would have been a better President IMO. Bill Clinton was a better President.

IMO W is the worst President in our lifetime.
