I hope the coaches apply for it. Somebody mentioned that she'd only played 7 games. As I read the rules, one has to have played fewer than 30 percent of the team's games to qualify for a medical hardship waiver. I think she is under 30 percent, and we could certainly use her for two years rather than one. Definitely worth going for.

Would that go for tucker too? She's played maybe 3 minutes total haha

Hope so. They could use her for one more year after Bashaara graduates, and she can use more time to improve her WNBA stock.

Maybe CHW can apply for a medical redshirt as well? Maybe a couple of more years of resting and watching will allow her to become a coach. You can save and stock pile all the players you want with redshirts, till the coaching gets better the results will not.

I think if Caldwell or Blair had the talent the LV do, then we'd be ready to make the final four. Elite 8 is the ceiling for this team with Holly directing traffic. Hope I am wrong.

Jones will definitely be eligible if she doesn't play anymore this season. She would be a valuable player for us next season playing the four position. Tucker is a huge mystery. I have suspected that after this season she may be on a permanent medical scholarship and never play.

RE Tucker: She practices, doesn't she? Has anybody seen her on the court, playing? How does she look? She fell way behind not playing for two years and with a knee injury, so we can only hope she comes on.

I don't know how she will fit in next season thought this season was her great chance to find minutes with the team.
Next year starters i expect to see Carter, DeShields, Reynolds, Russell, and Graves. I look for Cooper to get as many minutes as Reynolds in every game as our first player off the bench. Then I see Nared, Jones, and Middleton or Tucker some at the two if Tucker is ever to play here.

That leaves Jackson, Dunbar, and Moore to figure out where they fit in to playing time.

I expect more Jones or Nared inside at the four on offense as we'll need help in there and I think both will beat out Moore.

I have pledged to be nice towards Holly but she needs a little more seasoning, however, the bigger question is, does she realize it? Coaches also learn from other coaches, a trip to Storrs may do Holly good. There seem to be a lot of people on this forum who are happy as is, however, either the coaching or (or both) the players need to be developed and/or improved. We may fool ourselves but we are miles away from a grind for nine.

This team is 20-3, undefeated in the SEC, has beaten the most ranked teams of any other team in the country, all while missing one of the best defenders and basically two top recruits in the 2013 class. Yet they "aren't devoloped", "Holly isnt coaching the kids", "we aren't tough enough" ! Please

But to the OP's dialogue...I most definitely think the staff knows to apply for a redshirt for Jaz...she deserves an extra year for how hard she worked in the off season to develop her game this year only to be taken out by a concussion! Its unfortunate and I hope she stays the 2 years.

I'm not necessarily satisfied with Holly's coaching. I think she needs to improve on some things but I don't think she deserves all the bashing she gets. Even though we haven't made the FF, she is winning games. I'm sure she is learning each day how to be a better coach. We don't see what she does in practice or in the locker room. We just see her on the sideline and interviews. Hopefully she will reach out to other coaches and learn something that will help us be better.

I think you are putting a little too much faith in what Cooper will bring to the table as a freshman. I went again and saw her play her last home game the other night. She did O.K. but she was going against high school girls. She had a number of turn overs and missed free throws and a poor percentage from outside. She did excel at stealing the ball and making break away lay ups. She will play, but no way she gets as many minutes as Reynolds next year. In fact a junior on the opposing team played better than Cooper did in this last game I watched. She schooled her a few times.

Cooper has her off games and from my understanding has had a solid senior season overall. With Robinson going out, another D1,prospect that signed with Georgia, Tea has taken on more pressure to help the team win.

She has been solid and I'm not saying she won't be a good player. She scored her 2000th point the other night and has had to carry the load for the most part. I am saying I don't believe she will get as many minutes as Reynolds. Reynolds is coming along nicely. I may be wrong and she comes in and outplays Reynolds. I hope she does, because that means she would be playing pretty good ball.

I think Holly appears to be a worse coach than she actually is, just because she is not very articulate in interviews. She'd look like a better coach if she could improve her public speaking skills.

You can't really pick out a game and say she is not going to play a lot at Tennessee. She is averaging 27.3 ppg and 42 percent from the three. Through all games 52 percent from the field so she is making shots in a lot of the games. I like Reynolds but we can differ in opinions as to how much Cooper will play when she gets here. She will get all of Massengale's minutes and she is getting 27 to Reynolds 25. Deshields will get Burdick's minutes. Russell will get Harrison's minutes. No way those three don't play a lot of minutes we have no one on the bench that can take those minutes the bench players we have will continue to be bench players.

Blair has proven he can get to the Final Four and win it with less talent. I still don't get why there is so much infatuation with Caldwell's coaching here.....

Agreed. I don't doubt she will be a good player at some point, but you would think she is another Deshields the way some are hyping her up. Some don't even have her as a top 15 recruit...

Jannah Tucker is a Fictional character created by the UT Athletics Department.
