Did you REALLY think we were a #1 seed?

Dude, even if you had won out and won the SEC tourney, odds of you getting a one seed were very, VERY poor. UConn and Duke totally have two of them locked up. Can't see the SEC champ getting the nod ahead of Memphis, Villanova, Texas, winner of Big Ten.

SEC has no respect this year. And probably don't deserve it. You get to SEC finals, you are a 2 seed. Anything short of that and you are a 3.

Sorry to break the news to you but most people on the National scene including Digger Phelps, CBS sportsline and our own local sports personalities were predicting us a # 1 seed

I think that is just completely nuts. I think some people got caught up in the euphoria of the Florida win.

Digger Phelps can barely dress himself in the morning, Gregg Doyel at CBSSportsline writes things specifically for shock value, and our local sports guys don't know if the basketball is stuffed or inflated. If you're going to use those guys as your bank of info, you're going to end up looking ridiculous a lot. If you want legit info, check out Andy Katz, Mike Decourcy, Doug Gottleib, Joe Lunardi, Ken Pomeroy, and CollegeRPI.com. They provide serious, accurate information.

I couldn't attach but if you go to CBS Sportsline that is what the were predicting.

Believe it or not I'd add Jay Bilas to that list as well!

No . . . I truly think the term nuts fits. :D I swear I don't mean to constantly dog you in this thread, but as a Vol fan who is aware of the ins and outs of this team; it's depth; it's lack of size . . . I don't see how you can even consider the possibility. You had to know that eventually there would be a bump in the road.

Then again . . . this whole season has been one shock after another, so who am I to say it can't happen. What do I know??

Hatvol why are you so angry?
I'm not angry. I simply have the advantage/displeasure of knowing a good number of the guys in the national media. You just happened to be putting credence in some guys who have the credibility of Baghdad Bob. Doyel would admit that a huge portion of what he writes isn't really what he thinks, but what he thinks will inflame people. Digger does less homework than anyone in the business. Guys like Vitale and Packer do more research in a week than he does all year. I don't even feel the need to go into the failings of our local guys. I'll simply say this, in the media business, a guy who spends all of his career in Knoxville isn't very good.

Bilas does do a good job of projecting the tournament field.

And the Vols just proved today why he isn't so high on them as a tourney team.

eh, I think everyone is overreacting. The SEC is WAY better then what everyone thinks. there going to end up putting 6 teams into the tourney, and that will be second to the big east, if the big east gets 6 teams in. Arkansas is a very good team, and you cant call jay bilas a respectable basketball analyis, he hasnt even seen morrison play..

funny how quick people tend to jump ship... man its One loss... we were beat to hell today, and they didnt have there normal practice week. should be ready to go for kentucky though..

I'm not jumping ship Chuck, I just think the Volnation needs to be sure to not let whatever happens here at the end of the season put a damper on it. I think this team CAN win the SEC tourney, and even go deep in the NCAAs, but they have to keep their legs. No matter what they do, they are a special group that has solidified an opportunity for UT Men's bball to be one of those teams that everyone dreads playing.

Coach blamed himself at the pressconf, said he played Lofton and Patterson too many min for them to be effective at the end. Although the way CJ had BEEN playing, I would have expected HIM to step up and close Arky out. Face it, we played like Kentucky for the last 7 mins, and that's not a good thing!!!

How could we have lost this game? We were up 14 points in the second half. On our home court with Bruce "The Man" Pearl on the sideline calling plays. I was at the game and it looked like Arkansas just wanted to win more than us. I don't know how many offensive rebounds they had but it had to have been more than us. I couldn't believe it. It almost looked like a Buzz Peterson led team.

I am still very proud of these guys and hopefully they can learn from this. We have a tough Kentucky team (see LSU game today) ahead of us and if we are going to win we are going to have to play with more passion.

Probably the 2nd worst post of the day. If you didn't hear it already, Bruce said before the game that his team was out of gas. Add to that a high foul count on Bradshaw and Wingate and voila we lose. This team is in no way like last years team. To say such is simply ignorant.

Arkansas is probably as hot as anybody in the league right now.

Bilas was at the Stanford-Gonzaga game. I'm going to assume he watched the contest.

GAVol is right, Ark is on a streak & we simply got "cold" at the wrong time.

I did appreciate Coach BP taking responsibility by stating he may have left several players in to long.

Give him a couple years solid recruiting, SEC experience & his willingness to admit mistakes & I'm sure adjust. The future looks good.

HUGE factor here is players want to play his EXICITING style of bb & obviously are giving all they possibly can to the program. He doesn't snuff out the individual players talent yet molds it into an unselfish style of fun o ball w a tough high energy solid defense that usually smothers the opponent.
