As long as they keep electing those Fords and cronies others in the state are not going to waste tax payers money there. There is always some controversy or scandal happening there. Last years letter to the T$$AA exemplifies that.

The last two mayors have been big step ups from prior mayors. I’m not in the city proper, and one specific party is almost always going to win. But the last two are gentlemen, even if it’s a tough job.

But I agree that Nashville does not help Memphis with funding because it is political.

You are 1000% correct. You can see the condition of the TDOT maintained bridges and interstates here and realize that's the case. You can see the bait and switch the State tried to do with FedEx Logistics and the renovation of the Gibson plant downtown.

And the TSSAA issue - there are clearly two sets of rules. One for Shelby and one for the rest of the state.

My aunt has lived in Memphis since about 1976 or so. She has moved a couple times and now lives within a mile or so of the old mall of Memphis. She can't afford to move. She cannot sell her house because of the neighborhood. She would almost be giving it away. She used to live out around the airport someplace when she first moved there. It was a new subdivision and all was great. Sometime in the early 90's it all went downhill really fast. One of her neighbors came over one day and asked if she had seen anyone at his house while he was gone on vacay the previous week. She worked so she was not home during the day and she didn't notice anything. Turns out everything in his house was just gone. Someone had got in and took everything that wasn't nailed down. Undeterred, she stayed. Until one fine moring as she left for work and noticed a dead body in the road by the stop sign at the end of her street. She contacted a realtor pronto and got out. She moved to an upscale apartment which she could not afford for long and then bought the house she is in now. Her house has been hit with gunfire a few times. The cop who lived next door also was shot in his yard along with his dog.

A few years ago a coworker of mine was on a church outing and the bus stopped at Wendy's in Frayser. Not sure I spelled it right, but whatever. Some masked dudes ran in, robbed everyone and took off. She was telling this to all of us in the office because we had to take our daughter to the doctor at LeBonheur the next week. She said "baby, don't you stop in Frayser. I don't care if you hit somebody with your car, just keep driving and call 911"

I talk to old GF from college once n a while that lives in Germantown. There are 12-13 yr old kids in shoot outs in the city. Sad, very sad.
