Memphis EBT's

Problem with EBT is user choice and ease. I've said it thousands of times, I'd we are a great country nobody should ever go hungry - buy I have no problem limitin their purchases to basic food groups. Also, receiving income assistance is too easy when it's just dumped on a card. Should have to go stand in line all day like unemployment lines in the past. It may teach a little humility.

Issue is less about the person and more about how they where able to do this. If they can't use their EBT to buy things like TVs, beer, and tours of Gaceland (which is overrated imo) then this kind of abuse won't happen. Punish the businesses that let them buy things they don't need and it will make a point. It's just as much their responsibility as it is the people abusing the benefits. It's almost like enabling a drug addict. They would get in trouble to selling beer or cigs to a minor this really should be treated the same.

No personal responsibility for being the piece of garbage making the buying choice on the gov't dime?

Is you serious?

I've made many attempts to rationalize a lot of irrational things in my lifetime... you win.

I'm not rationalizing. You all are generalizing, not everyone on EBT abuses it. So cut it off and make everyone suffer because of the stupids out there, makes perfect sense. So the businesses that honestly know they are helping people abuse their benefits are at no fault? Please explain. I don't need to be lectured on "personal responsibility" please spare me that.

Clearly you need to be lectured on personal responsibility. Both sides, in every single one of those transactions, is absolutely and unequivocally dead wrong and both should be cut off instantly at the time of the transaction. This isn't a commentary about "everyone." This is about the pieces of garbage who abuse the system and you're defending them.

No defending them would be saying they have a right to buy stupid **** with their EBT, which I never said. Honestly to me, it really is just as much (if not a little more) on the people that allow this to go on. People are generally crappy and if they know they can abuse something will. I'm saying laying all the blame on one side is stupid and wrong.

ps. You don't know me or anything about me and allow me to inform you me and everyone in my family are great responsible people. So don't make assumptions like that.

Not surprised, probably the same for Medicare. It's amazing to think if we cut off all the moochers and undeserving people how much money we would save.

I think we should make it available for everyone in the world and just forget the rules. Hell, it's somebody else's fault anyway.

Uhh no, and if that is still a shot at me then I'm not going to try to explain myself anymore. My point was never to absolve the abusers of responsibility and if it seemed that way then my bad. I still think blame should be placed on both sides of the transaction though.

Obama is currently gutting work requirements for welfare as we speak.

Obama

Despite the fact that 87% favor work requirements for welfare.
