Good to hear Gran may not be a finalist anymore. That is a dead end job. Wouldn't be a good place to start his HC career.

No surprise there good ole Fred Smith working on getting one of his guys in there to make sure his son is the starting QB I know the other kid competing for the position and he is a good kid hope he doesn't get screwed through this whole ordeal.

IMO Larry Porter gets this job.

+1

I think Porter sees the writing on the wall.....

Bama will be the power in the west and LSU is probably headed to 3rd, 4th, or even 5th place (Arkansas, Auburn, Ole Miss) in the west over the next few years.

I've never liked Miles, as I think he's been more lucky than good over his time in Baton Rouge. I think he's finally run out of great assistant hires and that team will only slope further down in the near future.

BEt you weren't "wowed" by the Pastner hire either. I'd rather have a young coach who is hungry than some old tired retread. Larry Porter is the guy to hire here.

You may be right but if that "hungry" coach gets hired, he will starve to death in Memphis.

The worse Jerry Gray does, the more money Fred drops into the program to make his man look good. Sounds like a win in the long run for Memphis.

Curious how much exactly Fred is going to put into this.
