memphis job down to two

According to a coach that I am friends with in the area, who has a working relationship with LP, Porter turned the job down after consulting with Miles. Miles was supposedly in support of Porter taking a HC job, just not the Memphis one, because the Tiger AD would not increase the pay levels for the assistant coaches.

FWIW, after this coach told me this the night before last, I have seen similar things pop up on local reports. Porter has many ties in Memphis, so if he told multiple people this story, it would not take long to get out.

:lolabove: Not sure how much the Tiger AD is calling the shots. RC is a freakin' joke. I am assuming (yes, I know what that does) that Fred knows that assistants is where you need a lot of your money (see UT).

I have heard/read Porter was wanting to hire some local coaches (old teammates) for his staff and that didn't go over well with the hiring committee. Take the last comment with a grain of salt though.
