I wouldn't hold my breath on this one. Would love to see him in orange, but really think that this just makes it harder for him to turn us down, which he'll do anyway. I think he wants to play for an immediate winner, not have to build one from scratch. I think Memphis has this one.

Would be great if JS chose Tennessee but Hogs are the team to beat....could fall to Memphis by default...but you NEVER know with 17-18 year olds....just never know....

This isn't football. You can go from irrelevant to contender with one class and a couple players. Immediate winner can be immediate for mercer if they get the right guys.

Rivals.com Basketball Recruiting - UK moves to No. 1 in team rankings

Memphis is a perfect example that refutes this. Memphis landed one of the most ridiculous recruiting classes I've ever seen assembled, but when those kids were freshmen it took a phenomenal CUSA tourney run to even get them into the NCAA tournament. They will be really good this year and next though, as now they are cherry picking top 25 players to add to their talented base.

2-3 years is about as fast as you can go from bare cupboards to successful, even in college basketball where 1 player can make a much bigger difference.

Stokes may or may not want to wait that long.

Stokes would be a tough "get" with Memphis and Ark begging for his services. To this date UT has not gotten a primary player out of Memphis. Coach Martin has his work cut out for him. Also, Stokes is waiting to find out if he is elgible to play at Southwind or if he'll have to return to Central after the major fiasco in trying to transfer to Oak Hill.

The Memphis area is absolutely loaded next year with talent so we'll see how well he does.

Stokes could make an immediate impact. Combine him with McRae and Golden and you have three 4 to 5 star players. The Vols would be back in business .
