I'll be at the game. Hope a lot of State fans sneak them in. Im assuming it'll be a 50/50 split among fans. Dont believe it'll be 70/30 like it was at the UT-Memphis game last year

Someone please fill me in here. What's the big deal about cowbells? I guess I can see that you might be upset (and deafened) if you were the only non-cowbell-ringer sitting in the middle of bell hell, but why are they prohibited?
Neighbors complaining about the noise?
Hurting the self-esteem of the non-cowbell team?
Cowbells used as weapons?
--and yeah, I hear the earlier poster talking about how pro soccer is almost unendurable because of noisemakers. But have cowbells risen to the level of obnoxiousness of vuvuzelas?
Because they're annoying. I'm not sure why the state of Mississippi is so intent on putting its backwater, redneck-itude on display in public every weekend. I mean, ringing cowbells beats the preferred method of celebration in MS (i.e. firing shells of buckshot into the air repeatedly while swigging from cereamic "xxx" jugs), but c'mon. You're watching a football game, not a Beverly Hillbillies marathon.
