His footspeed is average at best... Thats easy to see.. He plays with good anticipation and sees the play... But he is not quick... Average at best and thats ok... Hes a good basketball player
His foot speed is more than fine for guarding most guards on our schedule.

Their offense wasn’t good tonight. It was really bad.
Yes but bama offense more times than nit is great and which allows there defense to be subpar. There defense has allowed 81+ points 4 out of 10 games and last 3 games in a row. UT defense has held teams under 70 points 8 times out of 10 games snf the other two games was 71 and 72 which we was 1-1 in. We gonna be just fine with our defense.

Have to play good defense and box out. Most of Memphis’ offensive game is either jack up a 3 or throw up a wild shot and send 4 guys to the offensive glass. They really don’t run an offense that I can recognize.
Completely agree. Memphis wants to run up and down and crash the boards, but if you contain them to a half court offense, they’ll get frustrated easily. Iowa State did the same thing to them when they beat them by 20. They took care of all the fundamentals, out worked them and methodically broke them down.

If Bama isn’t hitting 3’s, they are a very average team. And they can’t hit the broad side of a barn right now. Many of them open 3’s. And they are not a good rebounding team either. They have forced Memphis into 14 turnovers already but hasn’t made them pay. Hopefully we do. Memphis is very athletic and frenetic but if we handle the ball well, I believe we will do OK.
This sounds familiar? Like when we’re not hitting 3’s? Memphis plays undisciplined basketball, however, they will be so up for the game vs. the Vols we better bring our “ A” game and hit our 3’s because we do not have the physicality to match up with them in the paint. If were shooting bricks , like we did vs, TTU and Nova, it could be a long day In Nashville

Figured they'd find their game before we played them. Usually do. NO DEFENSE? Hell. they turned Bama over 20 times. If they're on like that game it will be curtains if we struggle from the perimeter. They have a ton of inside presence. Bad match up in the paint. Hoping the N court makes the difference. GBO

If we can hit open shots I like our chances. But, as everyone knows that's been a big if in games like this.

We have three really hard games coming against athletic teams that have all seen the formula for beating us. Our 3,4&5 have to be a scoring threat, we have to rebound, and need to drive enough to make free throws a factor. Obvious keys: Play BHH more and Plav less, force teams to play D on James to open the lane, drive from wing, not just the point, get Fulkerson looks that don’t force him to try to move anyone, shoot well. All three of these games are challenging matchups for us. If we go 0-3, that’s going to be a stain on our record when it’s time to pick and rank in March. Hopefully we’ll play well, and take two, or even three. Really tough stretch.

To be honest, Alabama just look tired, they have played a gauntlet of teams the last 2 weeks. Not sure if we can judge Memphis 100% on the game last night.

They are a very talented team but can be undisciplined.... Our post play is way overmatched... Vescovi doesn't have the footspeed... We have to go Combo with Chandler/Ziegler.... Z is good defensively and can run good offensively half court as well... Him and Chandler have to see the floor the most
Nkamhoua & Hatfield will need to be on the floor a lot also to match up with Williams & Duren.

You know this will be a big game for Hardaway and his future at Memphis. You need to beat UT at any cost anytime you can.
Hope it doesn't get ugly but will not be surprised if it does. Agree, if Vols play up to their capability they win but neutral court, who knows.

I believe the 11am start is to our advantage. The sluggish team will lose.

Memphis struggles offensively in the half court, while UT is sound defensively. That’s where UT matches up well. But you do have a point. If UT can generate enough efficient 3 point production, they’ll win.

I can’t recall Tennessee ever shooting well in Bridgestone.

In every ugly game that we lost the other team attacked us with a great deal more emotion and threw the kitchen sink at us. We became unglued and could never get back our composure. Memphis is going to do the same thing at the start of the game with us. If we let them carry the attack at the tip-off we will do just what we did against Nova and TT. We must not lose our composure and become stupid as we did in the game with TT by jacking up threes and not passing the ball around. JMO
