I watched Duke play several times this year. They are soft at almost every position. Parker was the team leader as an 18 year old freshman. When you tested Duke's will and didn't let them get out and run they were beatable. U.T. will not let Mercer play that sort of game.
Yes to all of this. Don't put Stokes on the low block where he gets doubled. Get him the ball at the elbow and let him go off the bounce and create havoc.
The thing I hate is they have 2 white kids and that seems to hurt Tn more than anything. Can never seem to stop the white kids. They don't need to over look this team.
If your white power analysis is true, judging by that video I saw of the Mercer backup PG doing the Nae Nae after the game, the Vols are going to lose by 50.
Was it because he was white, or because he had a 5 inch height advantage in the post?
as someone who will be supporting the Bears in this one I'm not too concerned about this injury affecting the outcome. I figure that Mercer needs the refs to call it tight to neutralize the size advantage of UTK. Either that will happen or it won't.Definitely a big problem for Mercer. Coursey is very apt to get in foul trouble (he had 4 yesterday by the 7:00 mark and had to be protected by offense/defense substitution the rest of the way). I also have no doubt though that Bob Hoffman will scheme around it and probably was going to play a ton of zone anyway.
All the more reason for us to run offense through Stokes and not fall into the trap Duke did of jacking up 3s all day like it was a preseason game.
Take away big fella's right shoulder and he'll be forced to play with 1/3rd of the court.
But lets not act like big white dudes don't tend to play the game differently than more athletic black dudes. Surely we are past the blatantly obvious. Neither one is better or worse. That's the beauty of hoops. Either style can win at any time.
He is a lefty and goes with his left, or to his right shoulder pretty much everytime. He'll bump, bump, jump hook and his teammates spread out waiting on help D.
