First off, way cool hat, Where do you get a hat like that? I'm assuming online. Second off you lucky dog. Wish I lived in Knoxville but I'm like 2.5 hours away. Ive never even been to a game but am going to make it a point this year.

I got his autograph at the Texas Roadhouse in Alcoa many years ago. He was with his youngest daughter (Allison I think?) and a couple of her friends. He didn't say much to me either but was very polite and didn't seem to mind too much about being bothered during family time. Several people were asking for autographs and some were even taking his picture without asking which is very rude but Phil just took it all in stride.

I worked for CPF and unless you know him or you were one of his players he was a bit shy. That's why you won't see him just "chewing the fat" with strangers. He doesn't love all that attention but he appreciates the fans a lot. He is not by any means rude. Take your kid up to him and you'll see him light up. Coach loves to sign for kids. CPF is good man and I miss him being our football coach. With that said...go Butch Jones!

I ran into him once at the Krispy Kreme.
He was walking in, I was walking out.
He refused to sign my box of a dozen assorted.

I'm sure you're kidding but unless you've ever been in the position where somebody actually wanted your autograph and ask you for it all the time you can't imagine how much of a headache it can be..., i've been to dinner a few times with a couple of friends who are recognizable and people were wanting their autograph and it can really be interrupting when you're trying to spend some time together.... Although people in those positions generally owe it to the public to sign those autographs I am just not very hard on people like that that don't want to do it anymore....,I understand a little...

Compared to Dooley and what he did, CPF's separation pay was minimal. Quit carping.

Yeah, you could say that. Fulmer received a buyout of $39,473.68 ($6,000,000/152) per victory while Dooley received $333,333.33 ($5,000,000/15) per victory. Of course, Fulmer also won a national title, two SEC titles and appeared in the SECCG 5 times. Dooley never finished with a winning record, lost to Kentucky and only made one bowl appearance... It is also worth noting that Fulmer and his wife Vicky donated $1 million to the UT scholarship fund in 2006. I'm tired of hearing about that Fulmer buyout crap. It was earned.

It's probably nothing but I am a little curious about what is meant by this?

You should hear Eric Ainge talk about how Hamilton brought him into his office to try and enlist his help to try and find something to fire Fulmer over.

Very Surprised more people do not know about this.

Maybe Ainge was high on pain killers and "imagined" that happened. Hard to believe.

Pretty hard to dispute it when it comes directly from the mouth of the person it happened to.. there is no hearsay, or I overheard bla bla..

And if he was taking LSD you could have a point, but painkillers do not work that way.

And to try and discredit Ainge over that when he does so much, speaking to kids etc to try and help others not repeat his mistakes.. is just-- NVM don't want to start an argument, just not worth it.

Regardless, Hamilton was a snake and ruined Tennessee Football. Got rid of the best coach we have had since Neyland himself, and brought in two coaches that helped him flush the program down the drain.

He couldn't have done more damage if he was planted there as a spy by Bama.

To everyone who asked, my wife got me the hat at east town mall in Knoxville with my last name and the Vol for life. I think for everything she paid $40.

Hamilton was a true snake and I agree with you on CPF. He was treated very poorly and fired 2 years too early.

A few weeks ago I posted that I had met Coach Fulmer at my job. I see him a lot at my job because I work for his bank. This time around, I asked him to sign my personalized Vol for life hat with my name embroidered on it. He signed it "Phillip Fulmer Hall of Fame 2012." What do you guys think?

CPF signed a football for me when he came to Winston Salem alumni meet years ago. He had a few kind words , personalized it, and it is now one f my prized possessions next to my Peyton football.BTW - that was Buzz Petersons 1st year. He was a nice guy as well, too bad he did not make it.
