Miami signing a deal with Adidas?

Never read any reviewer complaints about durability, but it's not something I look at it when buying so there's that. The new materials that are designed to be more functional don't last as long across the board in any brand.

From personal experience, I never had a pair of Nikes that didn't make it to the 250-ish mile running mark. My now ex bought me all new workout clothes when I deployed in Jan 2011. They are predominantly Nike clothes. The shirts are still in like new status and I wear them all weekly. The shorts are just starting to break down.

I also have some Adidas workout gear that is slightly older, but has held up just as well. Fwiw, all my workout gear gets washed separately, cold cycle and an easy dryer setting. Might not matter, but I think it does

How about durability? When I think of Nike I think k of falling apart at the seams.

FTR I make no claim at expert status.

What kind of Nike stuff do you have that falls apart? I've never had any issues with shoes/shorts/shirts/apparel and I use it all quite often

None currently (minus a TN Hoodie that I only wear a few times a year). I quit buying Nike stuff over 10 years ago.

Mostly I'm thinking about casual shoes. I've had some that started coming apart after a month or so. I've also had shirts and shorts that start coming apart at the hem after a handful of washes.

Adidas lost Notre Dame to Under Armour, and they're about to lose Tennessee to Nike.

Their top programs are hoops schools like Louisville, Kansas and UCLA.

I guess Michigan is their top dog in football, or perhaps Wisconsin?

Nebraska and Texas A&M are also Adidas.

I think Michigan is the 2nd highest contract behind Notre Dame IIRC.

Adidas (and Reebock which name they also own) have the NBA and NHL to themselves so they arent hurting

I'll give you the NBA, even if the Adidas deal is apparel only and not the shoes, but why would Nike waste a dime on the NHL?

Hockey is a regional sport, with what seems like a handful of regular season games aired on TV stations you can get with basic cable.

But when it comes to CFB, Adidas is getting its teeth kicked in by UA and Nike.

Haven't taken your first Intro to Marketing class I see.

Brands are not overrated, and companies spend millions, in some cases billions of dollars protecting them.

Nike is the dominant brand in sports apparel and athletic footwear for a reason, and it's not because they have the same **** as everyone else.

I think you're right.

UA threw the bank at Notre Dame, and they've had a national champion wear their gear (Auburn) more recently than Adidas.

And Harbaugh was a Nike guy at Stanford, so it will be interesting to see what happens with Michigan going forward.

Its all personal preference but I sell these apparel and shoe brands on a daily basis.

With shoes, it typically depends on the quality of the specific shoe and the materials they are made of but by and large, Nike, Adidas and UA are all around the same quality. Same with shirts and shorts. They are all person specific and it depends on what you are using them for...but all this "brand A falls apart and B lasts 4ever" stuff isn't true.

That said, Nike is easily the most popular brand (except in Soccer) with UA second (kids LOVE UA) and Adidas a healthy 3rd. Just my .2 based on my job and what I see.

Interesting. I'd agree with most that Under Armour is closing the gap and you see more younger than 16 year olds wearing UA than Nike.

Odd thing is I think the Addidas apparell at the US ARMY ALL AMERICAN BOWL blew the Under Armour apparell in the Under Armour Game away.
