Michael Kidd-Gilchrist to enter draft

Davis is obviously gone, MKG is up in the air - I believe he goes but of all the sure-fire guys he'd be the least surprising if he stayed. Lamb really wants to go but he's not very high on draft boards (comparatively) NBA has jump shooters and he's weak defensively plus he pouts and isn't super athletic. Jones will go and if Teague goes it will be less about him being ready and more about it being a weak draft for PGs.

MKG would be an idiot to return, and from everything Cals said if he's projected where he is he's going to kick him out the door.

As I said, I see MKG, Davis, jones, Teague all leaving and lamb being the 50/50 guy. Hell probably submit paperwork and go through the workouts (unless he did last year) and then see where he's projected.

Once again Cal has a solid incoming class, but as of now it's not guys like Davis and MKG. That's why i say Noel's is a must, and Muhammad would be huge as well. It'll be very interesting to see where those guys go.

Consider...
Remember, as good as 10-11 was, the recruiting class wasn't as star filled as the Wall/Cousins class. I don't see next year being as great either, Willie C is a good center, and the others aren't what UK is used to seeing in a Wall or Davis, but they'll certainly be solid players. Kentucky doesn't need Noel or Muhammed to have a huge recruiting class, we've been spoiled the last 3 years. If Cal does get one (or both) of the two top recruits, it'll just be bonus. Personally, I dont think Noel comes to UK. We already have the center spot filled by a very good player, and it would take a spot away from a PF or PG that might fit better. Shabazz is a very questionable. There are rumors he might have eligbity problems, and UK needs to stay far away if that's the case. No doubt he would boost the class tremendously, but not needed to be successful. I think Cal would love to have a few 2-3 year players.

Who's Staying?
Obviously Kyle W. is staying. If MKG stays and Lamb stay, UK will cruise to #1 in the SEC and far into the tournament. If UK can get some players like these to stay back a few years, and still pull in the talent, the Final Four might become a regular thing for Kentucky until Cal leaves.

NBA?
MKG really shouldnt stay. He'd be a great leader for the team, but he's projected really high and Cal will do nothing to stop him. Teague should stay. He would go somewhere in the 2nd round (late) and certainly is ready for the NBA. But a 2nd solid year at UK to learn more and improve to a high 2nd rounder (or even low first round) would help his game. Lamb might stay, just because he didnt have a huge season to improve stock. Jones is gone. Had he averaged 6 points and 4 boards the whole year, he might not go. But despite a less-than stellar year, he still dominated when he played good and showed NBA scouts what he can do. Davis...gone. Not much to that.

MKG would be an idiot to return.

I agree with that, but selfishly it's hard not to want him back...the way he plays makes him my favorite. I don’t know if that is something that irritates fans of other schools (a player like AJ Perzenyski however the hell you spell his last name) or if fans from other schools can respect the way he plays.

Who was better this year, gilchrist or terrence jones?

Gilchrist is the best player on that team. Once he matures mentally a little more, he will be a force. The kid is talented for sure. He doesn't get the attention from the media like Davis does, but to me he is a better player than Davis.

Gilchrist was better this year but i think TJ really makes the team unstoppable. If he has a bad night, UK can still win, just not blowouts. If he plays, like he did against Baylor (stats didnt reflect his impact early on) then UK steamrolls everone. Teague is the same way. When Teague plays like a middle schooler, UK struggles to find offense, when Teague is playing like Cal wants him too, UK goes on 22-4 runs and can't be stopped.

One thing that UK is lucky to have is a fantastic D. People worry about the offense showing up every game, but even when they cant hit the broadside a barn door they still hang in the game with brow and company swatting shots.

Subtract: Davis, MKG, lamb, Teague, jones, miller and Vargas.

Add: poythress, Goodwin, cauley

UK is still in limbo IMO for next year, you add Muhammad and Noel's and all a sudden all is well, but you miss on both and UK is very beatable next year IMO. I guess with cals style this is bound to happen some years where you lose a lot, and maybe miss on some top guys you usually land. If you're winning championships though you live with it, that's the part the remains to be proven though. I find it to be an interesting story line to follow this off season, jmo.

Hearing reports in the last 24 hrs that UK could land both Noel and Shabazz.

We act as if UK desperately needs the top 2 recruits to be successful. If they don't get Noel or Shabazz, they'll get someone else (albeit not as good).

They'll be more than fine that's not my suggestion, just they won't be what they were this year or probably the last 2.

If they miss on both I think there in that 10-20 ranked range of teams. They'll still be more talented than most teams, but they won't be a NBA D league team is what I'm saying.

I kinda feel like Noel is UK's, especially if they finish with a title. People saying he wouldn't want to compete with Cauley have shat for brains. Noel is to Davis as Cauley is to Vargas. I think there are other factors at play underneath that people do not know about concerning Shabazz. He, along with another high profile recruit could likely go to UCLA as a package.

And FYI, Davis isn't UK's first unibrow:

Noel will go wherever he feels he can win. As of now, that's UK. Cauly isn't a davis so he wont be scared off.
