Everytime NFL Network shows highlights of his father I can't help but think of how much of a bust he was. I remember how vocal Fulmer was when he didn't get drafted. It also seems to me he had knee problems and allowed quite a few sacks. Am I the only one who thinks he was a bust?

He was certainly a bust. I still have the Playboy edition from 2005 (I think?) when they listed him as a pre-season All American. That same issue had Tennessee ranked as the number one team in the country. Everybody thought we were going to be unbeatable. That year should have been the nail in Phil's coffin.

He wasn't a bust. He was an All American in 04 not to mention All SEC in 03 and 04. He did have quite a few injuries that derailed what he could have been but I wouldn't label him a bust.

Knoxvols, you are a bust of a fan. He played really well and fought through some bad injuries. He gave his all for the Vols. Beyond that, I knew him and his wife in college and they were amazing people. You should be ashamed of yourself. Somehow our douchebag fans forget that these players are real people. Drink bleach.

he wasn't a bust, but I always thought he got more praise on the TV than he deserved. very solid O'lineman for 4 years.

I wish all our "busts" were 4 year starters thatmade second team all sec 2 years in a row and all american one year. He didn't live up to the hype, but was certainly not a bust

I remember Munoz getting flagged for a body slam. He picked up some guy like Randy Savage and slammed him down onto the turf. Those were the days. I remember Reggie White doing that to Boomer Esiason. Now our line gets flagged for movement.

His last name was definitely a burden as far as expectations go.

Exactly.. How can a player that ends up starting multiple years on good teams be considered a bust. Fear of reoccurring injuries was the NFL's biggest drawback. The Bengals would have drafted on name alone if they thought he could pass a physical.

Why start a thread knocking an ex-Vol just because he didn't live up to ones expectations? They can't all go on to have careers like Manning.

He was a four year starter and a consensus first team hall of famer his senior year. He couldn't play in the NFL because of shoulder and knee injuries. How in hell does that qualify as a bust?

Disagree with OP's premise. Busts are kids who don't live up to their potential due to work ethic or (lack of) whats between their ears. Kids who fight through the injuries Munoz had might not be as successful as originally projected, but they are far from busts. There is no way to account for future injuries.

Agree, he wasn't a bust. Brandon Jeffries - now that was a bust.

We have some real doche bags on VN who get their jollies bashing players, coaches, wives, kids and anyone else associated with UT. It is the same ones who constantly do it and you can just about predict who they will be.

No where as talented as Anthony but Michael was no bust.

If you're looking for a bust try Crompton.

Not a bust. Went undrafted because teams questioned his ability to stay healthy. He had major knee issues. He had the ability to play in the NFL, just not the body.

The young man not only got his father's genes in being an outstanding OL, but he got his dad's bad knees too. How you can say that he was a bust because he was apparently born with bad knees is beyond my comprehension...
