Michelle Obama stated monday in a Wisconsin speech, "that for the first time in her adult life she is proud of her country". Wow, let the feeding frenzy, and spinning begin. They are about to find out what it's going to be like being the front runners. Everything said and done will be scrutinized to the nth degree.

she also claimed that Obama can "fix our souls".

I think she's crazier than Hillary.

I wondered this myself when I heard her speak, but really seemed like she went off script and started speaking from the heart, which is even more disappointing about her statement. Considering where she is in her life, this is the first time she is proud to be an american.

The incredible irony of the situation is that this election season, along with the choices I have in November, make my feelings towards the American political process border on shame.:whistling:

If Obama wins, I have a feeling that she will make Hillary as a first lady look like June Cleaver. I wonder what policies she will try to establish as co-president.

I am just excited to see the split that will occur in the Democratic Party once the super delegates side with Hillary. Could definitely be the beginning of the end of the Democratic Party as we know it. Coupled with the tension in the GOP, could easily lead to a very viable third party in 2010 and 2012.

Agreed, this is really a choice of the lesser evils. Shameful indeed.

I feel like writing in Fred Thompson's name, at least I feel like I voted for who "I" wanted, instead of what I'm left with.

I would have loved this race to have come down to Thompson vs. Richardson in November. While I do not agree with Richardson's campaign promises, at least he came across as an honest man who truly cared about the country and not his own pursuit of power.

And truely believe that both parties are going to see a metamorphous that is going to get very, very ugly. Parties will be split apart on race, gender, moderate, liberal, conservative, religion. Its going to be cut-throat at its worst.

Agreed, and I think both would make great VP's if not Presidents.

god wouldn't that be great. i really feel like the majority of americans are fiscally conservative and socially liberal. it's scary to think of obama/hillary/or even mccain as president. i'm quickly thinking hillary might be better than obama, even though it's fairly obvious she is much farther left than bill.

Unreal - what a crazy statement. Especially if she truly means it.

People supporting her husband or an African American for pres is the break through she needed? Wow.

add me as well. If there was a viable candidate that just believed those things...
I feel that describes me, too. It seems to be a fairly common point of view. Why is it so hard to find a candidate who will support this?

Because too many issues get in the way. I would tend to agree about being fiscally conservative but when you get into issues like immigration and healthcare it divides the people because so many that would tend to agree with you on many points will differ on these subjects.

For the first time in my adult life I am proud of Vol Nation.

:cray:

IMO it's just a common sense position. Gay marriage hurts nothing (although I think it would be done if they'd drop the word "marriage" and accept civil unions with equal benefits). Don't necessarily agree with abortion but why is it my job to tell someone it's not right? Pushing schools to teach things like creationism as an alternative and "young Earth" theories really make the right look ridiculous.

The left has the general idea but want everyone to pay for all these stupid programs that make the users too reliant on the gov't. Get up, get an education, get a job and make your way like everyone else. I think an education system like the German one would work wonders for the US.

I heard on the radio that our current taxes are around 35% with a 4 to 1 ratio (4 put in and 1 pulls out). By 2050 the ratio will be down to 2 to 1 and the tax rate will need to be at around 72% to pay for all the programs we have in place. Who in their right mind thinks that can be done?

and that's my stream of consciousness entry for the day :)
