nowhere close. I auditioned for, and made, the McDonalds All-American band on both Saxophone and Drums. Same with the All-State band in MI. and I played in an All-City Jazz band back home that was pretty cool. One of the directors of that band was a UT grad, and he landed me an offer from the folks in Knoxville. They were runner up to UF, but I dont think anyone could have beat Florida out at that time. (it they had brought me down to K-nox for an official visit....wined and dined me...had a few skirts taking me around campus...THAT might have helped....

anyways, I was a little better than average, imo

So you are saying if was the Kiffin era your username might have been VolBill? Orange Pride traveling to your home town holding signs saying come to Tennessee. Dawggone Kiffin screwed us by leaving early. Now Im ticked because if he was here earlier we could have had you on our side.

That is absolutely possible. :)

If you had heard my conversations with my kid when she was trying to pick a school, you would have thought that I had been a VFL.

She had a full academic offer from MichSt, and essentially the same thing from UT. She didnt want to drive 8.5 hours to go to school, but had dealt with the Vols fans all through HS and didnt think she wanted to deal with all of that mess either.

Trying to keep a long story short: I did a pretty good sell job for ya. And in return, you have a LadyVol with a Commissioners Academic Medallian, who is busting her tail for your school.

I think it's pretty cool. (even if I werent her dad, I would think that. The "long story" with this kid is even cooler. Pretty proud)

She's EXTREMELY proud to be a LadyVol and will be a VFL, but still kind of struggles with her Spartan roots just a bit.

There is probably a partial conversion already. But you will never get that 3rd game of the season out of me.

and if it comes down to ut -v- vandy, and a UT loss means a UF Championship......Im QUIETLY pulling for vandy.

I know you wont like it, but Im sure you understand

Beating Indiana for the Rose Bowl 1987.

So many great moments in there, just too many to mention.

Side note: the highly touted BigHouse at um (the outhouse) is one of the quietest stadiums I have ever been in. Ive been on the side lines for games that really mattered, and it was just not loud at all.

Was the Wisconsin game the one that sent Utah to the BCS? If so, I was there too and it was insanely loud. Also, have to echo the Big House thoughts. My family has had season ticket there for 50 years and never am impressed by the noise level there. Stadium also seems so much smaller on the inside than Neyland.

Yep! That was the one. Insanely loud. I was trying to find a picture of sparty staring down the Wisconsin OL down on the goal line. It is a pretty cool pic. But all I found was this one.....so I guess its a fair trade.

I cant see that through my work filter....I will have to check that when I get home.

But no problem with the hijack, Im kind of the king of the hijack thing myself.
