Here statement says it all - she's been conditioned to believe she is due this.

We need safety net programs but we've extended them to the extent that they become engrained ways of life.

This is true...but I don't know how we fix it without overhauling the entire program.

Well, she only got 1/2 a mill after taxes...

She really shouldn't abuse it, because when she is broke and has half a dozen kids she will need it

should be forced to repay every bit of assistance she's received since winning. Also her future application (which is guaranteed to happen) should be looked at much more closely

Yep, she could bank it and draw 60K a year for about 9 years. Surely in that time she could find a job that even paid 20 then she could draw 40K and stretch it.

Nope. Blow it and stay on the dole.

sadly I think many view being on welfare and playing the lottery 4 times a week as a real job
