Michigan

This is a message board, who cares what we talk about.

Now... if you are looking ahead to Michigan and we lose tomorrow you will be disappointed. But if you are ok with that, no problem thinking about Michigan.

Picked up Sunday tickets at the VOLS hotel this evening just as their bus was returning from practice. The fellows looked very loose and noted several cut out for the Mall across the street. FYI - read that Mercer is bringing 9 busloads of students up from Macon. They had 4 or more Friday. Very very loud section.

Not to be looking ahead, but it appears Michigan just locked up the Sweet 16 spot. All I got from this game is they live by the three.

How else do we match up against them? Assuming we can beat mercer.

I know Mercer beat us last year in the NIT game. But Stokes, Mcrae, and Richardson all are better. Plus we have Maymon this time. And Barton who we did not have then. Let's take care of Mercer first. Then worry about Michigan next week.

You have to throw out the NIT game, we clearly didn't want to be there.

But Mercer can't be taken lightly, they are a good team.

They hit 14 of 28 3 pointers today, don't know if they can keep that up, pound it inside and wear them down, then we would have a good chance, but we cant look ahead are we will be watching it.

I think it's a matter of not being better, but being motivated to win this game. Last year there was no motivation to actually play.

I'll do a full preview later having seen all but a combined four games of the two teams, but Tennessee matches up pretty well with Michigan, especially if Michigan has an off night from deep.

We got embarrassed by Mercer last year so I don't think they will take this game lightly. Also, I think Michigan would be a good matchup and if they keep playing the way they have been they can beat anybody....except maybe Florida who seems to have our #

A big if but if he can play at a high level we can beat anybody.

That's the problem. He plays at a mediocre level. He runs the team pretty decently, seems to play decent defense, occasionally makes some shots, but is he a guy who's going to make something happen in a big spot? We'll see...the Vols are headed for some big spots.

Just confidence. If he can hit one, he can hit several. He hit a couple of clutch shots and free throws late in games for Memphis. He is capable.

I just called the cbs sports show on the animal and JohnF said we would give Michigan fits. Also said he would not be surprised to see UT make the Elite 8.

I know nothing about Mercer but with 5 seniors they have to be a smart team. They beat us last year and impressed Coach K. We will have to play well.

They won't have an answer down low for Maymon and Stokes. However, they take very good care of the basketball. The key will be keeping their guards uncomfortable with disciplined man to man defense as well as using the 1-3-1 here and there. We have a rebounding advantage over the Wolverines, and I think that could ultimately be the difference in the end.

If any coach in the nation knows how to beat the 1-3-1 it's Beilein. He almost lost his job at Michigan before he stopped playing the 1-3-1 exclusively. If U.T. plays the 1-3-1 for more than 1 or 2 possessions, Stuskias will head to the corner and hit a 3.

I'll be in Indy for this game if we get past Mercer. I'll be the lone UT fan with my wife's family.

We all went to Atlanta last year for championship, UM vsLouisville. Good times

Our 1-3-1 isn't anything like they've seen all year. It would fluster them briefly, which could disrupt the flow of their offense assuming we'll be running man-to-man for 40 minutes.
