Middleton, Nared At McDonald's All-American Game

You really can't take a lot from an All Star game if you did then UConn recruits want do anything in college. Neither could hit the side of a barn and missed the only two free throws they shot. Middleton made the mistake of trying to play within a team concept. She had some turnovers mainly because none of her teammates were looking for a pass. She threw about three perfect passes that sailed out of bounds because her teammates were not even looking.
Nared can score at will she hits the mid-range jumper and takes it to the basket. Burdick better get to work if she plans on keeping that three position.

I think Nared will be ready to play she had a good game and led the west also played less mins then MVP Turner Westview's Jaime Nared leads West with 15 points in 80-78 win at McDonald's All American Game - OregonLive.com

What impact did last year's MVP have this year?

The game is just an exhibition game and way too may shots jacked up and I don't know why. These players have already signed except Wilson and she can go where she wants.
I will admit that at least a couple of passes she threw were not good. She plays against good competition in AAU, so she should be used to the speed and length but then these are even better than most AAU teams. She handled the rock Ok and played under control which was good. She is OK athlete but not the level of most of the other girls on the court and that is just truth. She is not highly rated for her athleticism but her ballhandling, shooting and intelligence. She is more athletic than standard catch and shoot three point shooters we have had in the past. You never really know how a lot of these players will work out on the next level.

Nared looks like what Burdick should be even though not the same position. Nice ahtlete and good mid-range shot. Hopefully she will have the confidence to continue to perform at the next level.

Below is from ESPN profile 2011 as #3 Rated player.
Burdick is easily the loudest on the team both in volume and character. There is rarely a moment with a straight face as she was always either smiling or scowling. What was evident her in France is what started emerging this spring, she is an impact player as the No. 2 option. Sure she has the physical tools to be the go-to, Michael Jordan, role. But when surrounded with other uber-talented players she is at her best using her versatility to play the Scottie Pippen role. Or perhaps being Tina Thompson, not Cynthia Cooper or Sheryl Swoopes.

Janie Narad # 5 ranked prospect 2014.
Versatile perimeter performer with triple-threat attack and deep range, explosive and fluid off the dribble in either direction; offensively skilled mismatch producer; consistently delivers in mid-range game to the arc; quiet, yet respected leadership characteristics; among the nation's elite in 2014.

I love Burdick but she has not performed at the level we expected as # 3 recruit nationally. I think it's mental. Injuries have not helped.

We don't have to hit a ton of threes to win. We have gone the route of bringing in excellent three point shooter who did not play defense well or handle ball well.

There is enough talent at Tennessee and coming in to be a final four team if they develop and the coaching staff puts them in a position to be successful.

Just watched the replay of this game on ESPN3. Jaime Nared was by far the MVP of this game for the West, not Turner. They gave it to Turner just because she had the game winning basket. Turner is still too gangly and uncoordinated, kind of reminded me of a young DeWanna Bonner. Nared looked very composed, even in the streetball exhibition format.

For the East, Makayla Thomas was head and shoulders above the rest and for me looks like the most ready for the next level; Florida State is very lucky they got her. It should even out the ACC a bit next year.

Alexa Middleton looked strong too, even if she turned it over a few times. She had several assists, and that is a good thing.

Which brings up the question in our horrific offense how would she ever get up a shot??
Convulted is correct there will be someone guarding her

Well in college she will not be playing poiint guard at all really maybe certain situations but I'm more than sure she will be at the SG spot. Coaches could set up plays to get her free, transitions baskets, and I could see her taking someone off the dribble. Last night was not a great indicator of her game just because of what I stated previously "they were worried about their own stats." Middleton seemed like the only player on her team that was trying to play team ball. Yeah she has some turnovers, but the other players half the time wasn't looking for the ball. Guess they thought she was going to ball hog like they we're doing. If you watched the game back Middleton was open at least 3-4 times on fast breaks on the wings waving her hands. At Tennesee she will get those opportunites, because we have so many weapons.

Let's debate this for a Sec.
What year was is the last time you seen the coaches draw up a play to get a player wide open look??????
The very reason MS had to take so many tough shots is because within our offense its pass, pass, look down low not pass wait shot clock is running the player with the ball panics make something happen quick!!Geesh A drawn up offense is suppose to put the players in position get easy baskets! NO Offense NONE!
If the coaches (i use this loosely) were drawning up those any this season we would be playing this coming Sunday!

I don't think taking someone off the dribble is one of the strengths in her game i could be wrong. She excels in passing and shooting. Those TO's in that game don't concern me those players were together for only a couple days.

Nevermind me im still hurt venting lol!!!

Lol no problem fully understand. You make a point yeah this year there were very few plays made to get a player open this past season. I would like to think with Middleton coming in they would eventually make plays for her when she is in the game. Unlike this past season there wasn't really a pure shooter on our team. MS was a streaky shooter but not a pure shooter. Maybe I am wishful thinking but in order for us to be successful (winning a NC) we have got to start drawing up plays to get players open! Now back to Middleton I watched last night she took players off the dribble and got by she didn't seem very confident after getting by that individual. Maybe it was nerves. She has alright speed I would like to think that our coaches could work with her on better decision making skills and ball handling.. She kind of reminds me of Angie Bjorklond but shorter and faster. Angie wasn't the best ball handler when she first arrived but every year her handles got better. Either way I'm hoping for the best

It's funny how perceptions differ. I thought Middleton looked slow. That coupled with her lack of height will make it difficult for her to get open shots.

I never said she was fast. I said she took people off the dribble meaning she has enough speed to get pass that individual. No she didn't take players off the dribble every time but I seen a few times she did, which leaves me with some hope. No she doesn't have Meghan Simmons speed but I can see her increasing her speed once she gets to college. Also you stated she lacked height but she is 5'9 not too shabby for women's college basketball playing guard.

Nobody wants or expects Middleton to be Simmons! Isn't she a point guard? What little I've seen of her, she looks like a PG. If so, her job will be to run the offense and get the all to scorers in sports where they are comfortable; to play good defense, and to show some tough-minded leadership on the court (not exactly a massengale strength). Shooting guard would demand a strong skill set. Simmons was a shooting guard with good skills but she had a rather undisciplined street style that she never lost--and that the coaches never squeezed out of her. Had they, she would have been a better all-around player and not just a shooter. We do not have enough good all-around players--we have TWO! Harrison and Carter--and the coaches can't seem to make a lot of our players better. Players come in with obvious weaknesses and three years later nothing has changed! Same problems.

Seems like 5'9" is a stretch (no pun intended). Seems like some kind of official measurement is needed in women's BB. But I guess that will just lead to kids putting themselves on the rack for a couple days prior to measurement.

I believe the measurements. I am 6'2" and have been around some women college basketball players. They are tall and many are athletic.
