Many people here were okay with it when he was UT's coach.
Yeah, and that still doesn't make it right. It was a great sound byte... right up till the time he was dead wrong about it. It was funny, then embarrassing. Kiffin ruffled feathers for sure and we bought it hook line and sinker for the most part. But it got old quick. The best part was that Nukese turned out to be so worth it in the end for us.
What is UF's history with UT such that we don't have the moral high ground?
Your coach called us cheaters and got caught looking like the idiot he was for saying so. Now he's done it again while out at USC.
There is the whole thing about a faxed play book that Spurrier said he didn't receive, then after you totally shut us down, said he didn't actually receive the whole thing. Zook was the guy who received the fax. Now, gator fans don't think it made that much of a difference, but vol fans see it differently.
Note: I am NOT defending Kiffin's mouth either time.
Why would UT fans want to yet again admit that they hired a complete douche as a head coach and that their error was compounded by their subsequent lame efforts to defend him when he came right out of the gate as a world class a-hole?
We hired a world class douche as a head coach and then compounded the error of our ways by trying to defend him and his actions with excuse after excuse. I did it. Others did it. It was a misguided sense of loyalty - not to Kiffin - but to UT. And for the record, he offended and insulted more than just UM.
Do you feel better now? I know I do. I can hold my head up a little higher without him around now - win or lose.
As for taking satisfaction in Kiffin's comment, I think you should take great satisfaction in his compounded error and be irritated that he singled out you guys mistakenly yet again. As far as I'm concerned, the more he puts his foot in it at USC the better.
Mike Garret is on my Xmas card list for taking him off our hands.
