"I expect to be coaching this time next year, be it on the college level or the NFL."

He is being interviewed by our local SportsTalk guy and has made comments about Tech still not paying him for last year. Commented on his graduation rate while at Tech, mentioned his winning record.

When asked about what are you looking for in your next program he offered this: "I look forward to getting into a situation where we can win a National Championship."

He has went on to say, "You have to avoid getting in a situation where pettiness is a problem."

He said he has recently taken trips to France, goes fishing once every three weeks in Florida, and has traveled up highway 1 in California. (Random I know, but thats Leach)

Im quoting as I go here, so......

"I miss the opportunity to deal with all the players and coaches, the practices ect...."

"I miss seeing the improvement and the progress....."

That was pretty much it. Our local guy used to have him on every Tuesday. This was the first time since Tech let him go.

Thoughts?

May not be schools that instantly pop up as NC contenders, but Colorado, Kansas St, and Wazzu are all situations in which he could build one over time.

wow, he said a lot of coach speak. I'm shocked. What do you expect him to say?

And i'm totally lost as to what's so random about going fishing, traveling route 1 and visiting France. Common vacations, especially for rich people.

I mean people act like he's not getting paid now. People still buy Vince Gill albums all the time, so he's still got his singing gig working for him.

He clearly sounded bitter over the fact that Tech had not paid him for his last year there.

He was screwed. Craig James son was the excuse they needed. He was owed a lot of money and the BOT were still bitter over the hardball he played with his contract.

Some good jobs will open up after next season. I hope one is not in the SEC.

Leach is an absolute moron, but I love hearing him talk. I'd still take him as my offensive coordinator.

I was pretty surprised that he brought it up actually. He and the host of the show he was on, have a pretty good, if not great, relationship. He made mention afterwards that they had agreed that he was not going to ask questions about all that happened at Tech with the case, the money, ect...

Mike brought it up however shortly after it started, and he let him roll with it. Of course, amongst the "coach talk", he added tidbits about his success there and how he expected things to get rectified.

With all the other ramifications that went along with his departure, it seemed like a pretty dumb move for them to dump him after he got a raise just the year before. The only thing they ended up sticking him for was his last season's check, and the bonus they screwed him out of for his Bowl Game appearance.

I know a lot of folks dont like him and think his style is gimmicky, but in the end, I think the guy is good for College Football. I wish him the best, and thats coming from an Ag.

The post game chat in the locker room after the Baylor game is pretty good too, but ya can't post it here. Waaaaaay too many f-bombs.

Mike Gundy is on the hot seat at Oklahoma State and T. Boone Pickens is supposedly interested in the Pirate. He has had some success against Oklahoma in the past, although its not a winning record, but hardly any coach has a winning record against Stoops.

Actually, Gundy being on the hot seat is a bit ridiculous since OSU is a deathbed for football coaches. Miles had just a slightly better record than Gundy has and to get anything better than that one would have to go back to the 1940's. Bottom line is that OSU isn't a "football school" and probably isn't ever going to be. OU has the state locked up, a small state that doesn't produce the quantity of talent needed to compete successfully and continually, and the task at OSU as a fb coach is herculean. Pickens can use his influence to get rid of Gundy, but his influence doesn't guarantee getting anyone better, as the historical record shows.

T.Boone Pickens dumped a whole lot of money in Stillwater and is not getting in younger. I think that he is on the hot seat. Money talks. I think that it can bring in a good coach.

Pickens and Phil Knight are both proof positive that no matter how much money you dump into a program, money doesn't buy consistent success.
