Mike Leach Suspended for bowl game

I agree but wasn't joking. I just used the smiley because I changed the post. I think it would be perfectly reasonable for Craig to corner the dumbass pirate in a darkened room somewhere with no other people present to let him know what he thinks about childish torture tactics.

I know we agree. It just amazes me that someone in his position could get away with something like that....well...on second thought...not really....

Is locking a kid in the equipment room for 3 hours because he wouldn't get off the practice field even with a concussion really that bad?

Its not like he left them in for 3 days with no food or water or anything.

Is that you, Leach?

Yeah, it's not like he killed him or anything?

Honestly, send the kid home or suspend him. What is the point of locking the son of an ESPN analyst in the equipment room for practice?

It's not great and stupid as hell, but not nearly as bad as people are making it out to be.

There are two things really wrong with this, assuming that the basic narrative turns out to be true. One, it sounds like Leach was pretty much punishing him because he had a concussion. Maybe he just didn't believe the kid or something, but it's amazingly dumb to do that to the kid of an ESPN personality in a year when head injuries are a weekly topic of conversation. Two, locking a kid in a dark equipment room for several hours is clearly outside the realm of normal, expected football discipline. It smacks way too much of an attempt amateur psychological torture by somebody who's read too many spy novels. It doesn't pass the sniff test of what is normal for a coach to do to a kid. Combine the a-little-too-weird punishment with an apparent indifference to concussions and you have a shiatstorm.

Leach has always been a fraud. Soon he's going to be a fraud without a job.

It wasn't really a punishment. From what I've seen that kid was on the field just walking around. He couldn't do anything, so he was just walking around doing nothing. Leach asked him to get off the field if he couldn't do anything, but he wouldn't. So he sent him to the equipment room to get whatever, and then locked him in once he actually got in there.

If thats legit, I don't have an issue with it. But no one knows the real story at this point, so we have no idea.

since no one else has said...

WTF was Leach thinking? Does he even have a legit reason to do this? what a cook

..and me being closterphobic(however the heck you spell it) I get locked in a environment like that, ima be mad as a hornet coming out and probably stick it to whoever locked me in even if he is my division 1 head football coach (unless hes like coach o) who i wouldnt mess wit....

This is ignorant

"At Texas Tech, all such complaints are considered as serious matters, and as a result, an investigation of the incident is underway," the school said in a release. "The investigation into this matter will continue in a thorough and fair manner."

Didn't this school hire Bobby Knight with a simular and more proven cloud over him?

Correct...Just another pussy kid not being pampered enough IMO

I agree, but whenever a player is "punished" or singled out by a coach for following doctors advice it looks bad. Especially considering the the emphasis that is being put on concussions right now.

Perhaps the kid had an attitude problem, the fact still remains that if these allegations are true Leach singled out a player and punished him for having a concussion and wearing glasses per doctors advice........not good for Leach and something that could likely end his career at T-Tech and make it difficult to find a comparable position.

So, he made him stand in a shed for three hours. Am I missing something here? What is so cruel about that?

Kid ran and told his "TV star daddy" and wheather the closet story is true or not, ESPN and the public is the final judge..not TTU , just like Kansas

The thing that sticks out the most to me is the fact that Graig James in a recruiting analist. Don't you just know that no matter where Leach is in the future James will be talking junk about him and running his name through the mud and hurting Leach's recruiting any chance he gets. Leach and his agent will have some SERIOUS damage control to do from now on.

If the story as reported is true the kid was punished for having a concussion and wearing glasses to minimize the symptoms.

And rightfully so if the story is true.

ESPN just reported that Leach may now be fired in the next two days WITH CAUSE, like the Kansas coach situation. Leach is supposed to get a $800,000 pay raise if he remains as coach on Thursday! IMO it will be a true-tell sign if Leach makes it through the next two days he will likely remain with the program!

The kid had a trainer come to check on him every 15 minutes, and he was sent to the low-light training room (not a shed) for his own benefit, as to keep him out of the bright sunlight.
If that's a crime, I'm incredibly naive.
Will West was on the radio today calling for Leach to serve jail time. Really??? Am I that off base here for not getting this?
