If Gruden doesn't happen, I say we go after Mike Smith of the Falcons. He played at ETSU and coached at Tenn Tech, so he has college coaching experience plus the Tennessee connections. This is the type of home run hire that we need right now. Now we just need Haslam to open up his checkbook.

The only way I want my Falcons and my Vols to mix is through the draft or free agency.

I am all for a coaching change becuase Dooley is beyond terrible, but these threads with outlandish coaches that people want or think we will go after is beyond annoying. Why would anyone want to leave the best team in the NFL right now?

Anymore unrealistic options?

Vince Lombardi?
Bill Walsh?

I can't see him as a college coach at all. I can't imagine him having any interest at all in the college rah-rah stuff.

He's already the best coach in Atlanta Falcon history, why would he come here? Any NFL team would jump at the chance to get him.

Hell, let's offer Jesus F. Christ himself while we're at it

Not enough proven experience at the collegiate level IMO.

Sure, the recruiting should be there, but how is he with x's and o's?

Will he run a spread or pro style offense? Big questions on the defensive side as well.

It would turn heads if we pulled that off. Coach leaving a Super Bowl favorite to coach Tennessee at the Birmingham Bowl. That would really raise some eyebrows.

This team could use intervention from the afterlife.

I say we grab Jim Grobe.

I went to Waken and I think Wake's A.D. knows that he is a perfect fit for that program. Grobe knows it too. His (unconfirmed) contract I believe is in the 3-4 range.

However, there have been some problems with athletes not meeting the academic standards that the school requires/acting out. So Grobe may have run his course at Wake.

I think he is a good coach, but I don't see him being successful at Tennessee

You do realize that posts like this are why people make fun of us, right?
