Mike Tomlin...

You’ve already admitted to not knowing much about Tomlin. How would you know what strikes a chord with him?

You’re suggesting the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers consider what equates to a career demotion.

It’s just an absurd premise.
Okay, just throwing a dream scenario out there to kick around, you obviously don't think it's feasible...I respect your opinion.
Do you have a favored "realistic" candidate if they can Dan? (Which I'm now leaning towards the thought that they won't.)

Mullen likely gets another year, having made the staff changes our fan base has been screaming for since the end of last season.

I just want to know what goes through the minds of posters when they make threads like these. It’s not even that threads like this are created, it’s how the OPs respond to critical responses that always blow my mind. How did you think the thread was going to turn out?

I know what he said, and he's about as respected and admired as any coach ever...But if Mel Tucker got 9.5 mil and LSU allegedly just offered Lincoln Riley 12, if I'm Scott Stricklin and the Bull Gators, I make coach Tomlin turn down 12.5/13 mil a year and complete organizational control, à la Nick Saban.

That's the game changer move.[/QUOTE

Damn, you must be a FL fan. Tomlin would fail miserably in the SEC.

Read all your posts in this thread and get back to me
They all consistently share the same theme..."It's a longshot...Make sure the salary is blow away, but create a pitch that doesn't revolve around money because that almost certainly won't interest him."

Yea. It would be a game changer, but why would anyone leave the best run NFL team to go to college, have to recruit, deal with NIL crap, boosters, summer caravans, and 18-21 year old “toddlers?”

Not sure if you noticed but the Steelers have only had 3 coaches since the start of the 1969 season. One of the best run professional sports franchises in history. Coaches don’t just jump ship from that team. They coach there until they retire.

If you are going to make up a ridiculous, unrealistic hypothetical, why not go from 9/10 crazy town to 10/10 full on crazy town and just make this thread about going after Saban or Bill Belichick?

Maybe I'm missing something, but why Tomlin to FL anyway? Is there a connection to the area for him?

AFAIK he's not been around college ball for some time and would have to build recruiting relationships from scratch, a coaching staff, etc.

What am I missing? Why is this even a thing?

If you’re a successful, long tenured coach in the NFL, with one of the most storied franchises in league history, generational wealth already in the bank plus a Super Bowl ring, why in the hell would you…or your agent…take a call from Scott Stricklin?
So true. That is why the Gators must grab someone from the NFL,and that perfect absolutely perfect for for them would be Jeremy Pruitt. He would take a call. Fla must do that.

Makes the Tomlin leaving suggestion all the more ridiculous imo.

Successful head coach is all I need. Storied franchise, Super Bowl winner, 15 years head coach.....all that is just piling on.

Other than living near New Orleans...I think OU is the better job...guess the equalizer now is that getting to the playoffs will now be harder for them since they are in the SEC

I’ve never been to Oklahoma(1 of only 5 states I haven’t been to) but I lived in BR. Living in Oklahoma can’t be worse. Other than food, there’s not many redeeming reasons to want to live in LA unless you’re from there. And a large percentage of them want out.
