Mike Zimmer on Bobby Petrino

it should be painfully obvious.

you bring in a new staff to atlanta.
at least some, if not all, the staff members have a wife and kid(s).

as soon as petrino leaves, you think the entire staff is going to be kept on by whoever replaces petrino?

hell no. so pretty much everybody who relocated their whole family to atlanta was going to be stuck with no job... and then if/when they did find a job, it would mean having to uproot the family (AND KIDS) again.

not a really cool thing for kids to go through.
I still think it's strong to say he ruined their lives, though.

so you have no problem with kiffin leaving?
I don't like the effect it has had on the program, but from a professional standpoint, I can't really blame him.

Sucked, but he didn't do it in the middle of the season. Plus, he took half the damn coaching staff with him, so I guess he didn't "ruin" any of their lives.
I think the coach least happy about him leaving was probably his brother-in-law.

I think you have to consider the source a little bit. Zimmer's wife died fairly recently so I'm sure he's very emotional about the recent past.

What Kiffin did was kinda douchey but ultimately not wrong.

Calling petrino a pure scumbag isn't quite harsh enough.
