We're excited for him but hate to see him go. He is wanting to stay stateside on the coast somewhere but not sure how that's going to work out for him.
I know his mother will be a basket case if he gets stationed out of the states.
From what I can tell he has a bright future if he takes advantage of everything that is offered.

I hope for his sake that he doesn't get stuck in Minot.

I got out of the Air Force a year ago as of this month. I wish I would have done aircraft maintenance. There has to be some good money in that on the outside world.

Used to be when the major airlines paid good money.

Just retired after 40 years in aircraft maintenance, BTW.

OP,

I did 21 years Air Force active duty and retired almost three years ago. I still work for the Air Force but now as a Department of the Air Force civilian. Basically, I have worked for the Air Force since 1991.

Please let me know if you have any questions and I will do my best to answer them.

My son is getting very close to going into the Navy. Pretty much a done deal, just sorting out the paper work.

What school is your son getting? The training I got in the Navy has kept me gainfully employed for the last 25 years. I now work for the Air Force as a civilian at Robins.

Translation please.

Are Warner Robbins and Robbins different bases?

Sorry about that. PMEL - Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory. I'm at Robins AFB which is in Warner Robins. So they are one and the same. People back home in Tennessee ask me how I ended up here and I tell them punishment from God. :)

Got it. My daughter commands the airfield operations flight there and her husband is an air battle management officer there as well. We haven't had a chance to visit them yet but hope to soon.

It ain't me I swear. It's the guys in the dang contract lab. They are good at that. They do it to my stuff too.

Lol. Our PMEL rep works right next to me and always has a few choice words. I may have to take it over. At Fairchild we sent stuff on base. Here we have to send stuff off to Robins.

My brother in law is about to be a lieutenant colonel in the Air Force. Currently in Las Vegas but going back to MacDill in Tampa.

He has been to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.
