Millennials in the Workforce, A Generation of Weakness - Simon Sinek

It’s all marketing. And trade jobs aren’t even trying. Throw up the $$$ signs abd working for yourself, and boom!

Free thinking that working 40 hours a week is a pretty stupid concept. 40+ hours of mostly meaningless busy work. Yikes and we wonder why depression is so rampant.

Here's how it works. You perform a service. Someone pays you for that service.

Noone is going to pay you to just breathe.

Truck driver is a bad example but I agree a lot of my generation was pushed to go to school instead of a trade labor. If I could go back I would probably have gone the trade route and own my own trade business.

And as a result of that, a lot of trade labor jobs are denigrated by a lot of millennials, especially the ones that have been college and gotten a useless degree. They think that they are overqualified or too good for them.

It isn't necessarily a problem that millennials are push to go to school. It's a problem when they are pushed to go to school even if that means borrowing a lot of money, and even worse when they are encouraged to "follow their heart" and get a degree in Lesbian Dance Theory while there.

I would get a PhD in that, if given a mulligan on college.

There’s just as many baby boomers and gen Xers that just throw out buzz words. Or, opinions that are completely against logic and fact. It’s not a generational thing

I am an Xer.
We didn’t created safe spaces.
That was pushed by the the current generation and cheered on by liberal baby boomers.

All generations have faults but the current generation is lazy. A job doesn’t sound appealing so I will live off my parents as they work their job that is probably just as unappealing.

At some point people have to realize a job is work. You are on the clock and an expense to someone else. You are there to make the business money, not play on your phone.

Educated does not equal smart or intelligent.

They'll have to grow up and mature at some point, because unless they are a trust fund kid (and some are) they've got bills to pay.

Having to pay for stuff tends to grow you up quickly.
I read somewhere half of them in their 30s still live with parents and view them as their retirement plan. I hope at some point they truly grow up but it’s scary.

I wouldn't say that the current generation is any lazier than other generations when they were the same age. A lot of those people 18-35 still living at home actually have jobs and a decent percentage of them contribute to rent/mortgage payment. College debt, which they were also pushed into accumulating by boomers, is a big reason for the higher rates of people in that demographic still living at home.

What does make millennials different is that they don't handle adversity well and if they think that conditions aren't "ideal" for their success, they'll whine and complain. They are too sensitive and seem really prone to taking things personally that aren't.

Another thing they need to do if they are worried about making money/buying a house/supporting themselves is that they need to become more career-oriented, not job oriented. I read somewhere that Millennials think of jobs as "gigs" and they'll bounce around from one to the other, have "side hustles," etc. If you think that the grass is always greener on the other side, you won't gain enough experience in something specific. That's how you really start to earn more money. They are ambitious, but not focused.

It’s only half of 18-24 year olds. The next bracket goes up to 32 years old and it’s only 18%.

Growing up a tweener between Gen X and millennial I remember how often the Gen Xers were called lazy. I’ve read countless stories about how the hippies were all lazy. But let’s ignore that.

Baby boomers were lazy self absorbed hippies and pot heads preaching free love as kids.

Then hit their 30s in the 80s and became self absorbed money whores who sold their kids out for bigger houses and more things. Mommy got a job and the latch key society of children was born.

Baby boomer generation sucked ass.

This new generation is what happens when parents are self absorbed *******s.

We brainwashed millions of women to believe in free love and got away with it. What have you done?:peace2:

My home of record is still my grandfather’s house (my uncle bought it when he passed). I wonder if I get claimed as a 37 year old living with a parent?

Clearly they just circlejerk about how awful millenials are.

I want to hear Blazer and Neo tell us about walking ten miles up hill to get to school.

(Also it’s funny that technically Blazer is profiting off of the finding trade laborers struggle)

Bastardized recent gender role confusion into sponging off girls in exchange for allowing them to love me.

Sponging off girls?

I agree. Yes, trucking isn’t the greatest example because it isn’t a very glamorous job. However a solution to resolve the driver shortage is needed. Whoever fixes that problem will make A LOT of money.

Driverless trucks will solve that problem. I wouldn't advise my kid to look to be a truck driver when all you hear is that the truck driver is being phased out by technology.
