Congolese Migrants Monitored for Ebola Along Texas Border, Says Official

A public health official in Laredo, Texas, said 20 Congolese migrants were monitored for Ebola and other diseases in shelters in his city and across the Mexican border in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas. Shortly after his announcement during a Laredo City Council meeting, the World Health Organization (WHO) considered declaring a “global emergency” in response to a massive outbreak of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

“We have 8 Congolese right now in one of our shelters and a dozen in Nuevo Laredo,” Laredo Health Director Dr. Hector Gonzalez told the Laredo City Councilman George Altget during a council meeting on April 4. “For them, my concern was Ebola.” He said that due to the time element, the Congolese migrants were not developing symptoms of Ebola. “But, we’re on alert to check that,” he said.

A report from the WHO states that, as of April 10, there have been more than 1,200 reported cases of Ebola in the Congo (1,140 confirmed, 66 probable). Those cases resulted in the deaths of 764 patients (698 confirmed, 66 probable). On Friday, The WHO decided the outbreak does not yet constitute a “Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC).”

A top Red Cross official told NBC News on Friday that he is “more concerned than I have ever been” about the current outbreak of Ebola spreading regionally. Emanuele Capobianco cited statistics from the Congolese health ministry confirming 40 new cases over a two-day period last week. NBC reported that the official called the rate unprecedented in this particular outbreak.

Office of Refugee and Resettlement Places 234,414 Migrant ‘Children’ in All 50 States

Statistics from the federal government show the fate of hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrant ‘children’ who have come across the border with Mexico illegally or to seek asylum.

The Department of Health and Human Service’s Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) has relocated 234,414 Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) to all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands from 2014 to the first five months of the fiscal year 2019 (October 2018 to February 2019)

The majority of the UAC are males (71 percent in 2018) between the ages of 15 and 17, and most are from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador, according to ORR.

The leftist media, however, is not reporting these facts while criticizing President Donald Trump’s suggestion that rather than saddling border cities with the crushing flow of illegal immigrants some could be transported to other places in the United States, including so-called “sanctuary cities” established to protect illegals from deportation.

Seven Mexican Nationals Apprehended After Crossing Canadian Border

Swanton Sector Border Patrol agents apprehended seven Mexican nationals after they illegally crossed the border from Canada into New York.

Surveillance agents located in the Swanton Sector Tactical Communications Center observed a group of migrants crossing into New York on April 13, near Fort Covington. Agents responded to the area and located seven migrants, according to Swanton Sector officials.

The agents approached the group and conducted a field immigration interview. The agents learned that all seven had no authorization to enter or be present in the United States, officials stated. The agents arrested the migrants and transported them to the Burke Border Patrol Station for a biometric background investigation and processing.

In spite of people coming here illegally and putting a drain on our economy and committing violent crime. I can only imagine if we could weed them out and put a stop to it at the border.

A drain on the economy? What are you talking about? There is more economic activity because of them. This is indisputable. You can claim they are bad for government budgets (unproven) but more people = more activity.

Mooching off social programs, evade taxes, commit crimes vs them buying groceries at Walmart with food stamps. Yea I’d rather them just get out and come in the right way and if they can’t then maybe they’ll make an effort to make their own home land better.

It seems like semantics, but the fact that untold numbers of people have and continue to enter our country illegally, in violation of federal law, is a problem. Is it the wording you have a problem with, or do you not see how problematic it is?

Yuma, Arizona mayor declares emergency over migrant situation

An Arizona mayor on Tuesday declared an emergency in the city he represents due to what he said was the strain caused by the incoming flow of migrants.

Yuma Mayor Douglas Nicholls shared the news on Facebook, explaining that he “proclaimed a local emergency” in the city “due to the migrant family releases overwhelming the local shelter system.”

He went on ask for the federal government to step in and provide assistance.

“I am calling upon the federal government to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Yuma, as our NGO’s are overcapacity and cannot sustain providing this aid,” the post said.

Hundreds of asylum seekers surrendered to an armed militia of New Mexico citizens last night, after trying to cross the U.S. border.

A group of 300 men, women and children gave themselves up to the 'United Constitutional Patriots', a gang of vigilantes who claim to be made up of veterans and former police officers, who then handed them over to border officials.


Video recorded by one of the militia, Jim Benvie, who has been camping out on the New Mexico-Chihuahua border for two months, shows the asylum seekers walking on a dirt road having crossed through a fence gap in Sundland Park, New Mexico.
