I think you having a different perspective is honorable. Assimilation should be a key consideration to immigration. Speaking English is not an official language but it is the de facto language of the country and is used in business.

Let's get back to the central issue and not take the focus off two key facts:

(1) this was an illegal entry into the US, and if you break the law entering is there any hope that you will abide by laws once you're here, which brings us to point #2.

(2) it is alleged that he murdered a young co-ed. This is the real tragedy.

It's not my kid, girlfriend, or relative but I sympathize with all who knew and loved her. I put myself in those shoes. It was a needless and tragic death and another product of open borders.
