Millions of Illegal Aliens From All Over The World Head For U.S. Border

Appealing to authority is a logical fallacy. The words have clout, not because of who is saying them, but because they are reasoned.

I appeal to common sense. It’s common sense to operate a secure border and not just let anyone in. Asylum should be much harder and less prevalent than those who look to legally immigrate. We should be extremely selective with very few exceptions and those exceptions should be due to extreme issues. Who we let in shouldn’t automatically get an EBT card and every other mooching entitlement and that’s what’s camped out out at the border.

Nobody is saying "don't secure the border".

Why should Asylum be harder? The success of refugees in this country is one of the most positive aspects of immigration.

You have no idea what you're talking about with the last part. There are some moochers, yes, but immigrants work. They'll work most of the people you know into the ground.

Tijuana Mayor Says Arrest Caravan Organizer, Vows To Stop Funding Migrants

TIJUANA, Mexico – After declaring the migrant caravan a “humanitarian crisis” this week, Mayor Juan Manuel Gastélum told Fox News that he can no longer continue to fund the municipal effort to shelter them without federal assistance.
“I’m not going to break public services to solve this problem,” the Tijuana mayor said.

Even worse, he could be forced to raise taxes on Tijuana’s 1.7 million residents who have already suffered from Sunday’s clashes.

“In those six hours that the border was closed, we lost approximately 129 million pesos,” he said. “That's not fair. How do you think people from Tijuana feel towards those people who are making problems?”

Meanwhile, conditions for the migrants in the tent city encampment worsened overnight with heavy winds and rain – flooding overcrowded spaces, leaving wet clothes, sleeping bags and litter strewn about an unsanitary and inhumane existence.

Efforts were underway to move some of them to a new location because of reports that more migrants were making their way to Tijuana.

Mayor Gastélum blames the organizers for whom he cannot identify. He said they should be held accountable. He said the leaders of the caravan should face criminal charges.

“Those are the real criminals because they're dealing with the lives of people,” he says.

Hope now rests on a new Mexican administration when Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador takes office as Mexico’s new president on Saturday.

Gastélum has a message for the incoming president.

“It's problem he must solve," he said, "as soon as he gets into office.”

Considering our "authorities" and their penchant for doing nothing actually constructive while erecting and naming stuff for themselves, "illogical phallacy" is probably a more fitting term.

And now they can take first hand accounts back home, so the next batch of would be caravaners have a more reasonable view of the situation. Who knows, if they realize running isn't an option, they might actually grow some balls to stand and fight the corruption in Latin America.

Did you mean to spell it "phall", LOL?

The fallacy is in reference to a broader idea of authority than a legal authority or leader figure. It could be an expert in a given field. In this case, the appeal would be to a guy who is viewed as a conservative/libertarian hero. Being who he is doesn't make him right/wrong.

In that context I'll still stick with "illogical phallacy" - unimpressed with today's leaders in pretty much any field. And, yeah, the spelling was intended - few current "leaders" in any field measure up to the lofty self opinion they've attempted to erect.

Jesus

We have met the enemy; and he is us ... again? Another example of "leaders" and bad judgement.
Yea. We are just like that tribe on the island that can't handle outsiders. People from third world countries come here with different stuff that we have once defeated or can't handle. Time to stop this horse chit.

That little girl standing next to the bike is breaking my heart to be honest.
Shame on those parents or whoever is responsible for doing such a cruel & heartless thing to children.
It's got be a special place in hell for those that do such things to innocent young children.

The caravan organizers are more to blame than the sheep they brought to the border IMO.
